A New Life III - Meeting

Tenaka wandered down the passages of the Labyrinth. All of the time, he felt that he was being watched, but try as he might he could not see the hidden observer. He loosened his sword in his scabbard and looked around once more. If he was the watcher, this is when he would strike. When his prey clearly knows that you are there, but appears worried by the knowledge. Suddenly he heard a sound and spun on his heel, drawing his Dai-katana as he moved. He stopped with the blade lying on the shoulder of his pursuer.

She was a tall, black clad, Dark Elf . Her eyes glistened as she visibly gulped. Regaining her composure she ran her finger along the sharp blade. "Hmm. This could be dangerous in the wrong hands," she said.

"Trust me," replied Tenaka. "My hands are the right hands. Why were you following me?"

"I merely thought that you may know the way around this Labyrinth. I do not. Except that you are heading towards a dead-end."
"I am going to kill that head. How long do you have left?"
"9 hours. You?"
"11 and a half."
"It is my thought that we would benefit from working together."
"Possibly."
"I will need your name."
"Tenaka Khan, Spellsword. Yours?"
"Kriella Divaran, Assassin. Just one, minor point."
"Yes?"
"You can move your sword now."
"Of course." That said, he moved his sword from her shoulder and sheathed
it quickly. "Now that I have done this, you don't intend to kill me, do
you?"
"No. I kind of like you."

"I kind of like you too. Perhaps we should go. I have a pressing engagement with a head…"

The Head opened its eyes as it felt the thud on its back and experienced an unusual sensation of flying. This soon ended with a second thud as its nose struck the ground. Never having felt such strange things before it was at a loss as to what it might say. Eventually it decided that "Oh!" was appropriate and responded duly. It rolled over so that it lay on one cheek and looked up at the Dark Elf he had earlier directed. "What was that for?"
it asked.
"You sent me up a dead end. What do you think it was for?" he responded.
"If you recall, I did not send you. I merely told you that that way was
safest. The choice of which way to go was clearly your own choice."
"You are trying to get out of this on a technicality?"
"Yes. I was just doing my job. If you had asked, for example, 'Which way to
Geddon?' I would have told you right. You merely asked which way was
safest."
Tenaka realised that the head was right and cursed his own stupidity. He
stormed off down the right hand passage.
"Heh!" shouted the head. "Aren't you going to put me the right way up?"
"No!" shouted Tenaka as he walked away.
"Don't worry," said Kriella, watching him walk away. She picked up the head
and placed it back up on its base. "I am sure he won't hold it against
you."
"What is an attractive young Elf like you doing with a guy like him?"
"I don't know. I kind of like him. Bye. Nothing personal, but I hope I
don't see you again."
Kriella hurried off to catch Tenaka. If she had looked back she would have
seen a look of definite surprise on the head's face.
