Subject: [porc] Death to the wyrm! Date: Wed, 22 Jul 1998 17:34:58 -0800 From: jdavis109@juno.com (JAMES R DAVIS) To: dagrfall@ods.com After Zarth's act of blinding the dragon, I was able to push the claw up out of my shoulder, where the claw had found a flaw in my chain mail. Grabbing my swords, Scorcher already repaired through its magic, I sheathed them. I pulled two ebony daggers from my belt and looked around, wishing Alyssa were with us and not with Betrayal, as her draconic form would have been quite useful. I moved to its side and starting using the ebony weapons as climbing axes, slamming them into the stony scales of the wyrm and pulling myself up. Knowing that any magic I can cast would be short-lived, I chose a simple levitation spell. I floated up to the high ceiling and flipped over, swords pointed straight at the wyrm's back, between her wings. Yelling to Adeline, I said "Dispel me! Now!" Mea moved to stop her, but Adeline's actions were augmented by her unnatural speed. I felt the nullifying ray strike me and then gravity re-exerted its dominion over me. As I began to fall, Mea and Catris peppered the head with arrows, mundane and incediary. I felt myself falling towards the dragon, relying on my swords' sharpness to drive me like a 5'7" long arrow into her. I miscalculated. I slammed into the dragon and bounced off, skittering off her back like a drop of water in a hot skillet. My head slammed off the stone, but I managed to retain consciousness. I felt the dragon's tail wrap around under me, lifting me off the floor. I opened my eyes, my head reeling from the shock of the blow. Scorcher and Ghalleva were pinned to my body, no help there. The dragon turned its head away from my companions and the tail deposited my in her mouth. Seeing Zarth's shield still lodged in her jaw, I grabbed the straps. I ducked low behind the tower shield and pressed my swords against the back of the shield. I felt the muscles in her mouth contract. She was going to bite me in half! Realizing this, I kicked the shield away, dislodging it, and held my swords up. The resistance suddenly gone, the dragon closed her jaws, driving my swords up into her brain. Death was swift. Puzzling my companions, I got out of her mouth and sliced open her chest, no longer so strong without her magic. I pushed into the dragon's corpse, in search of several things. The most important though, was her heart. I sliced the thing out, and dragged it out into the open. The organ, about the size and weight of myself, took up a good area on the floor. I turned to my companions and said "Stand back or come forth and partake of the dragon's heart. If one eats some of the heart within one hour of the death of the wyrm, you will gain the ability to change into a dragon for the next full moon. I am going to eat some. Does anyone else care to?" I turned and sliced off a section of meat, biting a large piece off. I offered a piece to my companions. Catris took the meat from my hand and ate a large portion of it. Adeline outright refused, as her undead nature would render the heart useless to her. I held out a portion to Mea and Zarth, who...................... ~Lord Jemalas Tamislane of Thornwood, Ruler of Kalisis JDavis109@juno.com _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
