It had been a long time since I had ridden any mount, aside from Nightwing, the grand ancient black wyrm Kali appointed as my mount and protector. I pulled myself up into the saddle, but the horse Mea had provided for me could bear so heavy a person. Fumbling in my pouch, I pulled out a small onyx statue of a horse. Setting it on the deck of the ship, I began chanting the ancient summoning. A puff of smoke enveloped the statue and a crack of magic was heard. A noble riding horse, some 15 hands tall, appeared and galloped out of the smoke. "Ah, Midnight. How are you this day?" I said in greeting. The horse came forward, nuzzled against my chest and imparted through telepathy, "I am fine. Where shall we ride today?" "To Sentinel, my good friend." Midnight turned toward the other horses and his eyes flashed red as flames snorted out of his nostrils. I put my hand on his mane and said to my companions "Midnight is the embodiment of the horses' spirit. He is a charger, but he finds the company of lesser horses distracting. He means no harm." I saddled Midnight and mounted the saddle, through all of which Midnight made no sound. I settled into the saddle and he said "M'Lord Tamislane, hast thou lost weight?" I nodded as we disembarked, imparting my predicament here on Tamriel to him. As we entered the city gates of Sentinel, I felt him impart "I can take you back to Sovere. I can travel Astrally." I shoook my head and said, "No, it would be poor form to leave my friends, especially since Mea and Zarth have been so kind to us." We rode through the gates, unimpeded. Mea merely waved the guards aside and they obeyed. "How odd," I thought to myself. Reaching into a pocket, I pulled out a length of twine and tied my weapons, Scorcher and Ghalleva, into their sheaths. We followed Mea through several twisting streets, finally coming upon a huge reflecting pool. I stared at the huge castle rising in the distance. The graceful structure, the sand stone blocks cut perfectly round. Dwarven craftsmanship, I would wager. On a whim, I told Midnight to take me to the palace before anyone else could get there. I shot forward, dismounted, then, following the rite of passage for adventurers here in this area of the world, scaled the side of the building. I climbed the stairs to the doors. Then I put my feet forward in my boots, clenching my toes. This activated the wall-walking ability. I literally walked straight up the side of palace, mounting the dome of the main tower. I saw then why Mea likes this city so much. A cool breeze ruffled my hair as I stared out over the buildings and people far below. Feeling so relaxed, clinging to the spire like a monkey, I was overwhelmed by the heady feeling I felt. My fingers lost their grasp and I rolled down the side of the dome. I rolled over the edge and was falling toward one of the lesser spires, my chest hurtling towards the bronze spires atop the snaller spire. I curled into a small ball, speeding my flight down and forward. I missed the spire, but did not land well. The spire grazed my leg, slicing through my skin and into the muscle. Seeing a group of people gathered to watch another hapless adventurer splatter himself on the cobblestones, I pushed off the dome on the lesser spire, so as to land in one of the reflecting pools and not on them. "SPLASH!" I landed in the reflecting pool some twenty feet from my companions. My momentum drove me through the floor of the pool, leaving the classic Wile E. Coyote imprint. (Wile E. Coyote is a character from something called a cartoon in another dimension.) I picked myself up, unhurt aside from the slice on my thigh. I glanced up at my companions, the water from my hair blurring my vision, but I knew the expression on their face was........ ~Lord Jemalas Tamislane of Thornwood, Ruler of Kalisis JDavis109@juno.com _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
