I stopped in my tracks, the point of Zarth's broadsword in the hollow of my
neck.  One errant move, and I would be sidhe kabobs.  "I am a Sidhe, my dear
High Elf.  I am not a vampire, nor am I undead.  My left hand is as you see
it because of an action that Sabidon took.  He transformed himself into a
lich through unique methods.  Back on Sovere, everything must be balanced.
Because of this, when Sabidon opened a conduit to the positive energy plane,
an equal amount of negative energy was created.  Instead of letting my
companions absorb the energy and risk being turned into zombies or worse, I
absorbed it myself and attempted to redirect it.  I, as you can see, did not
do as well as I thought I had.  The experience left me connected to the
negative energy plane.  I can call upon it at will, as I did just a  few
moments ago.  I have worn the gauntlet to avoid startling people.  I was
almost burned at the stake in one little town."

Zarth and Mea stood, gripping their weapons.  Alex came to my side in this
debate and had drawn her shortswords.  Catris was ready to avenge me, should
Zarth slip.  Adeline's vampiric nature truly shown through at that moment,
with her face twisting into a mask of rage.  "Well, Mea, Zarth, it is your
move."
