Subject: [Dagger] [Porc] The Dark Angel (AKA, Lord Jemalas Tamislane) Date: Fri, 4 Sep 1998 23:59:50 -0400 From: "Jim Davis" To: "Dagger List" I sighed, knowing that this was coming, but I had hoped to avoid it. I removed the silks wrapping my head and neck, and laid my staff on the deck. "Lady Mea. I have come to respect you and any surprises you may hold. Where I was raised, respect returned will be magnified between two individuals. Though you say you use 'mundane' means to fight your battles. From a Soverian view, what you see as mundane is considered down right archaic. I have not fought a magic free battle once! Even when I was but a small child of 6, I could call up the forces of nature to do my bidding. A well placed burst of flame here, a gust of wind there, a well dropped stone....." "Archaic?!?" Mea's face screamed, but she held her composure. "My means are not archaic," she said smoothly, "I just do not have the access to the power you do. Just because I am not such an exhibitionist of my powers does not make me any less the person." I cringed at the imagined insult she took. "I did not mean it that way. I mean to say that my powers are flashy in nature, hence, I use them to gain respect for the church of my Goddess." I made special note to conceal Kali's name, as I had no idea what wisps of memory may be floating around in Mea's head. "Then what say you to the definition of good on Sovere, monster?" she asked, not missing a beat. "Good is benevolence. When I say acts of great good, sometimes the greatest acts do not include slaying marauding beasts, or stopping some diabolical madman. No, the good I do in Dark Angel form is done as such because the greatest good is the small things that are done anonymously. In the streets of Kalisis, I move in stealth, laden with toys, healing ungents and potions, food, and platinum. I give toys to children as I encounter them, to the sick I distribute healing, to the poor money. To the hungry, I give food. Now, is that not a great good to bring to the world?" I continued on, "Why is it that the color black is always associated with evil on this world? On Sovere, black is a sign of mystery, not evil. Even your precious sword, Sacre Noir is the color of my wings and clothing. Is your sword inherently evil due to its color?" Giving Mea a moment to digest this and give her retorts, I crossed my arms and waited, emerald eyes glinting in the waning sunlight. ~Lord Jemalas Tamislane, Master Dweomerkeeper, Ruler of Kalisis, High Lord of Thornwood jrdavis@penn.com ICQ- 16848203
