The Characters of The Tale
Back

Séonaid Sedai
A quiet one she was, unless she was angry. When she was angry you really didn't want it to be with you. Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah, with all that that implies. Very young for the Shawl as well... probably due to her being so Ta'veren... Prone to nightmares as well, though whether that was due to her history or her Dreamwalking, nobody really knows.

Darren Ta'ler
Seonaid's Gaidin, though she always simply called him Darren. Quite strongly Ta'veren as well, and who would have thought he would be a Dreamwalker? A young lad, with more than a bit of boyish innocence and nerves. He certainly didn't enjoy the voyage with the Atha'an Miere... It certainly came as a shock to everybody when Idrien discovered that he could Channel. Seonaid was not impressed!

Arilyn Sedai
A White one, she was. On some business from the Amyrlin Seat with Moiraine Sedai and Lan, her Gaidin. The problem was, that she had left Tarn, her Gaidin, back in Tar Valon. Why she would do such a thing, nobody is really sure of, though many reasons spring to mind when you meet Tarn. Another Ta'veren she was.

Tarn Greymere
Ahh, he was a bitter one. Again, Ta'veren, though unfortunately, he and his Aes Sedai didn't get along particularly well, though he served well enough. At least when he wasn't making sarcastic comments. Almost more trouble that he was worth. At least if he didn't keep running off. It's understandable and all, but irritating. Almost...

Idrien Manande
He was a strange one... A Hunter for the Horn of Valere, though his reasons for wanting it never really became clear. Another Ta'veren as well, and a bloody Channeler too. Blood and Ashes, who knows what will happen when you get five of them so strong together...

Cruinn Glean-Geiss
She was a little unusual. Fleeing from Illian, she had managed to get a Gleeman's cloak from somewhere. And she certainly lived up to it. Darren had a hard time around her though. Her costume certainly didn't hide a lot. No-one is too sure why, but someone in high places doesn't seem to like her. The Grey Men don't just go after anyone...

Joar Addam
Another Hunter for the Horn, or so he claimed. He tried to help the party, but they repaid him with an attack from behind, which was quite foolish of them because he was a Blademaster, complete with Heron marked Sword. And he had only been trying to help. Cruinn quite liked him but she was the only one for some reason. He had also managed to get a Fancloak from somewhere, though he claimed never to have killed a Warder. Perhaps he was a Warder whose Aes Sedai had been killed... That would also explain where he got those artifacts from...

He proved himself able to Channel was the problem. But again, he had only been trying to help. He simply Travelled a couple of miles away to tell a Myrddraal not to attack, and they all took this to mean he was a Darkfriend. Paranoid they were. Paranoid. He only wanted to help. He only ever wanted to help...

Or perhaps not. Of course now he has been discovered to actually be Asmodean, one of the Forsaken. Though why he took such an interest in such an unusual group still remains to be seen...

Elaida Sedai
The advisor to Queen Morgase of Andor, a cold one she was. Red Ajah, with all that that implies. Cool, collected. She also had the Foretelling. And it appeared that it had just struck when Seonaid and Darren left her presence. Who knows what she saw?

Noam
Goldeneyes. That's the first thing you see when you look at him. After that you notice that he is quite big really. Really. They met him in the woods between Caemlyn and Four Kings when some Trollocs attacked, but he doesn't call them Trollocs. He calls them Twisted Ones. And the Myrddraal, Neverborn.

He has also demonstrated some ability to walk the World of Dreams.

Those wolves seem nice enough though.

Moiraine Sedai
An Aes Dedai of the Blue Ajah, she has shown herself to be very strong in the power, though that may have simply been due to the angreal she carries. Mysterious, but then, what Aes Sedai isn't? She was born into a noble family in Cairhien, but she was not in line for succession. Just as well really - she wouldn't really have wanted the job. There has also been some evidence that she is, or at least was, a close friend of the Amyrlin, as she always referrs to her by her first name, Suian.

al'Lan Mandragoran
Tai'shar Malkieri! The True Blood of Malkier! He is the last of the people of Malkier, and he has a private was with the Shadow, which he would still be fighting off in the Blight somewhere is Moiraine hadn't Bonded him. They never seemed to argue, but then, Lan never showed any emotion at all.One of the most respected Warders in the Tower.

Lanfear
Daughter Of The Night. That pretty much sums up Lanfear. Or Selene, as she for some reason like to be called. She seems to have taken an interest in young Darren, for what she would consider good things, but she has surely made an enemy of Seonaid. I guess that neither of them particularly liked being Shielded...

Birgitte
A golden haired beauty from many, many years ago. Legend has it that when she shoots with her silver bow, she cannot miss, but that will remain to be seen. Apparently she has broken some rule or other, because Lanfear tried to Balefire her, so how much longer she is going to last is somewhat questionable.

Of course, the real question, is what is she doing still existing? She died many years ago!

She did prove helpful though...
