Jane Webster

BODY MATERIAL

The works are directly linked to the medical profession and its need to communicate diagnostic issues to its patients. Jane Webster's body sculptures, visually powerful and arresting in their own right, are made with the intention to communicate issues about the body as simply as possible.

Sometimes highly trained and overworked doctors find it difficult to explain concepts of illness to the layman but these powerful, anatomically accurate, soft body suits bridge a communication gap between the medical profession and the patient. Jane uses soft, interactive, user friendly 3D models which deliver precise information about our bodies and how they function. They are an invaluable tool for the doctor and consultant to use when describing complex illnesses to the patient. Patients deserve clear and direct information about their illnesses, the use of these sculptures helps to demystify the language of the specialist and clarify any uncertainties the patient might have.

Jane has been working very closely with a number of Departments who who treat all ages of cancer patients. Children, in particular, respond well to the visual aids and, through them, their treatments with chemotherapy and radiotherapy can be explained.
