Introduction

Welcome to the Communiversity Online Conference, where we hope to build up examples of projects which illustrate how Communiversity can work. We welcome any papers, links, examples and comments which cover our aims. Due to the outstanding success of the first Communiversity conference in 1995 we are having a second conference which will bring together practitioners involved in the Communiversity network and those working in the arena of arts and health.

The conference will seek to to update on develops of Communiversity style projects internationally in view of UNESCO Education for All and Learning without frontiers and in the UK with Widening participation and The New Opportunities Fund.

We will publish a finalised timetable nearer the conference. So if you want to take part, there is still time.

We will facilitate an online debate on our website for those who wish to take part but cannot attend. The online conference website will take place from 1 March to 1 December 99. We are looking for partners to do a video conference on the first day of the conference; looking for partners to add projects, examples, papers, links to this website; looking to have this website on view at the conference for others to see your examples and looking for partners to have an online debate during conference and at other dates.

Healthy living centres

The UK government has put aside 300 million pounds for healthy living centres in this country. At present we have 38 students at The Bromley by Bow Healthy Living Centre and have completed 20 projects within Barnet General hospital. We wish to share good practice by bringing together similar Public Art projects.

Communiversity agreement of co-operation

We would like to have a formal signing of a Communiversity agreement of co-operation, which will be witnessed by the Communiversity community. You do not need to be at the Conference to be part of this, but we will seek your consultation on the document itself. The aim of this agreement of co-operation is to seek funding to develop this worldwide communiversity network.

As with the last Conference there will be celebrity speakers, workshops and entertainment events and our usual welcoming hospitality. At this stage we are seeking to identify those people who are interested in participating and attending the conference. Please advise the steering committee if you are interested in either the communiversity network the arts and health symposium or both.
