Watch Unto Prayer

"I wonder why ~ things easily alarm and lead us to despair? Is it because we do not meet with others at the hour of Prayer?
I wonder why ~ we grow so weary and are full of anxious care? Might the loads loft, if we would meet with others at the hour of Prayer?
I wonder why ~ our days are filled with 'many things', no time to spare? The 'foe' may be at work to stop us meeting at the hour of Prayer.
I wonder why ~ we seem to 'slip' and are of dangers unaware? Our 'sight' grows dim unless we meet with others at the hour of Prayer.
I wonder why ~ the service drags and blessing often is so rare? Perhaps it is because we've failed to meet with others at the hour of Prayer.
I wonder why ~ we hear of 'needs' at home or far away out 'there'? Is it the Master's call to meet with others at the hour of Prayer?
I wonder why ~ we do not hear Revival 'stirring in the air'? The fault may be, No Time, to meet with others at the hour of Prayer.
Why should I wonder why ~ when God doth clearly in His Word declare, 'The end of all things is at hand, be sober, watch' ~ Watch Unto Prayer" [Harold E. Heath].

Earnest Attention

"We must give earnest attention to prayer ... We need to cry out to God, seek to receive His burdens in travail. ... Somebody said that prayer is not an argument with God to persuade Him to move things our way, but an exercise by which we are enabled by His Spirit to move ourselves His way. Prayer is God the Holy Spirit talking to God the Father in the Name of God the Son, and the believer's heart is the prayer room. God only answers prayers when they are presented in the way of His appointing and according to His superior intelligence. Prayer has its laws which must be known and obeyed. ...
