Preface
| Since Jesus Christ became real to me one summer's evening over
fifty years ago my relationship with God through Jesus has
been central, as I came to realise that life here on earth is meant
to be a preparation for eternity with God Himself; the very reason
for which He created us. All we think, say, or do in this life
has eternal consequences which should gradually change us into the
person God wants us to become; and Jesus is always our
perfect Helper, Guide, and Example in this. As He said, "I am the way, the
truth and the life, no man cometh to the Father but by Me"
(John
14:6). Graciously, God, through the Lord Jesus, constantly reaches out to us in this life seeking a positive response from our hearts because He doesn't want anyone to perish and be lost throughout eternity (John 3:16-21; 2 Peter 3:9; 2 Corinthians 4:3-4). Attempting to enlarge upon the thoughts set out in my earlier book Walking With Jesus published some years ago, Gospel Insights is, in a way, a follow-up to that book. Most of the chapters in both books originated in the sharing of simple Scriptural truths in a variety of teaching and preaching sessions with both Christians and non-Christians alike, and Gospel Insights continues that earlier study into the Scriptures, especially into all that God has done for us in Jesus Christ and what He expects from us in return. I am very grateful to all those whose teaching, preaching, and writings have helped me and spoken to me down the years, and my thanks especially go to those who have read the original text and for all their help in typing and formatting the manuscript.
