Contrary to popular belief this house was probably used by Mary just once. The building itself is from the 16th century and in all probability was a hunting lodge for the Kerr family that lived in Fernihirst Castle about 2 miles south from Jedburgh. Mary did however lodge in the builing known as the Spread Eagle Hotel which is the oldest hotel in the town.
Jedburgh was once
famous for their pear trees. The pear trees are sadly in demise
but within the grounds of Mary Queen of Scots House there are
some pear trees.
Both of these shots were taken from within the grounds of the house which overlooks the main route through Jedburgh and the "auld brig".
