VALEN'S SHADOW WAR

c1260

An alliance of worlds, including the last remaining First Ones, the Vorlons and the Minbari attack the Shadows in what will be remembered as a Great War. Two of the Shadow ships crash into the solar system, landing on Ganymede and Mars.

At some point the war begins to go badly for the Minbari and their allies. Their greatest starbase is destroyed by the Shadows. Babylon 4 is brought forward as a replacement base from the future to serve as a base of operations during a war between light and darkness, seeming to appear from nowhere. Accompanying the station is Jeffrey David Sinclair who has already undergone the Chrysalis transformation, to become a Minbari not born of Minbari.

Valen subdues the Warrior Caste, establishes the Grey Council, becomes the 'Chosen One' and establishes the Anla'shok to fight the Shadows.

The Alliance against the Shadows destroy two thirds of the Shadow forces, driving them from Z'ha'dum.

The Babylon 4 station doesn't last much longer than the war and Valen transforms the Anla'shok into an army of watchers to keep an eye out for the return of the Shadows.

THE EARTH-MINBARI WAR

2245
(July)

Delenn becomes a full member of the Grey Council.

The Grey Council's cruiser and accompanying ships, en route to Z'ha'dum, encounter a human convoy fleet, including EAS Prometheus, EAS Hyperion, and DSEV Amundsen, an EA Explorer vessel. Only Delenn recognises what species the ships belong to. The Minbari religious leader Dukhat had realised that the standard practice of approaching with gun ports open could be dangerous, but before his order to close them could be carried out, the Earth ships attacked killing Dukhat. A soul hunter was at hand but prevented from taking Dukhat's soul by the Grey Council. Enraged over the death of Dukhat, Delenn gave the order that started the Earth-Minbari War. The Minbari ships opened fire destroying some of the Earth vessels. The rest of the remaining Earth ships fled as the other Minbari ships hesitated. When it was learned that Dukhat had been killed, they pursued the ships back to an Earth base.

The death of Dukhat, and the final vote of Delenn begins the Holy war against the Humans. The Worker Caste went along with the Warrior Caste and part of the Religious Castes. The remainder of the Religious Caste was unsure, but were unable to raise sufficient objections to stop it. The Minbari fleet began its movement towards Earth by destroying the Colony at Jerico 3.

Earthforce strips the Captain responsible for the botched first contact of his rank, and tries him for his attack on the Minbari. They offer to turn him over to the Minbari but he commits suicide instead.

The Earther Stephen Franklin is thrown in prison for not turning over his notes on Minbari biology to Earthforce. In an engagement between the Drala'Fi (The Black Star) and a number of Earth vessels including the EAS Lexington John Sheridan emerges victorious after mining an asteriod field and destroying the Black Star earning him the name of 'Starkiller'.

There is an attempt at peace negotiations between Sheridan, Franklin & Lennon (head of the Anla'shok), aided by G'Kar. It is disrupted when the Centauri attack and kill Lennon.

c2246

47 humans occupy a deep space listening post on a moon orbiting a world used by the Minbari. 46 of the 47 are killed by a Shadow Warrior, which hitches a ride on the USS Copernicus.

2248
(September)

The Battle of the Line. 200 people out of 20,000 survive (including Sinclair).

War ends.

Sineval, Captain of the Trigati, commits suicide; ship vanishes rather than accept the surrender.

THE SHADOW WAR

2256 - 2259

It's been almost 1000 years since the last Great War with the Shadows when the Vorlons and the Minbari learn that they are returning to Z'ha'dum. At about the same time, the Babylon 5 station is built and goes online.

Delenn is sent to Babylon 5 as an Ambassador, but the real reason she goes is to watch over Sinclair - following a belief that he has a minbari soul and could be Valen himself.

2260

Sinclair is transferred from Babylon 5 (Sheridan 'Starkiller' takes over his role) to become the Earth Ambassador to Minbar (as far as Earth President William Morgan Clark is concerned - they want to keep him miles away from anything as he could have found out too much already). The real reason becomes apparent and they want Sinclair to lead the Anla'shok (the Rangers). After a major speech to the Minbari he is allowed to enter Humans in the Anla'shok. Shortly after this, Rangers begin setting up operations on Babylon 5. During April Sinclair sends a message about the Rangers to Garibaldi on Delenn on B5.
In May the Mining Colony on Arisia III is destroyed by the Shadows. Marcus Cole is the sole survivor when his brother William (a Ranger) comes to warn him that the Shadows are coming. Marcus travels to Babylon 5 then on to Minbar. In September Catherine Sakai (Sinclair girlfriend) begins training the Rangers as pilots. Her, Marcus and Sinclair destroy a Shadow attempt to gain control of a Time Vortex. Sakai is lost in the Vortex. Kosh tests Delenn & Sheridan's allegiance to the cause by summoing Sebastian, an ancient inquisitor.

2261

In January Marcus Cole leaves Zagros VII (a world the Rangers train on, and a world the Shadows have taken an interest in). A representative arrives from Earth to discuss Shadow footage with Sheridan and Delenn (as seen on the Interstellar Network News). Marcus Cole also meets with Sheridan and Delenn and asks for their help in getting the Rangers away from Zagros VII. Sheridan inherits a 'White Star' ship. In February the Babylon 5 War Council decide to try contacting the 'First Ones'. Commander Ivanova and Marcus Cole make contact with the 'Walkers of Sigma 957'. G'Kar, the former Narn Ambassador to Babylon 5 begins prying into Ranger activities and Commander Ivanova meets with the Minbari Draal on Epsilon III and uncovers evidence that the Earth President, William Clark is responsible for the death of his predecessor Louis Santiago which plunges the plot deeply into Earth involvement with the Shadows. To further add to the plot, Marcus Cole receives information from another Ranger in March stating that 'Ranger One recommends that the Rangers go on a heightened state of alert and pull back from Earth space, due to what's happening there'. April brings the end of the Grey Council as Delenn claims they have all lost their way when they echo the Vorlon sentiment that 'the problems of others are not our concern.' As prophesised the Council is broken and Delenn leads them to Babylon 5 just in time to save the Station from Earth Destroyers who are under orders to seize the station after it claims independence from Earth.

It seems relatively quiet for a while until August when Sheridan persuades Kosh that the Vorlons should aid them against the Shadows. In a battle against the Shadows in Brakiri space, the Vorlons give their aid at a great cost - Ambassador Kosh is later killed by the Shadows.

In October Sinclair and Delenn receive messages from the past (from Valen). They lead the White Star into the past to steal Babylon 4 for use in the last Shadow War. Sinclair stays with the Station to become the Minbari's revered figure, Valen (with the use of the Chrysalis).

November sees Delenn become Entil'zha of the Anla'shok after a fight almost to the death between Neroon and Marcus Cole (who were both taught the use of the Fighting Pike by Durhan). Marcus is beaten to near death but Neroon shows mercy when Marcus cries out to Valen.

In December the existence of a whole fleet of White Star ships is revealed to Captain Sheridan. Delenn meets with the Alliance (non-aligned worlds) and the White Star leads the Fleet into Sector 83 for a fight against the Shadows. Anna Sheridan arrives to take Captain Sheridan to Z'ha'dum. After a conversation on the Shadows reasoning behind the attacks on the younger races, he uses the White Star and a couple of bombs to take out the Shadows main base on Z'ha'dum.

The last time we see him this season is leaping into a 2 mile abyss after the voice of Kosh tells him to jump.

2262

At the start of the year Lyta, Delenn and Ivanova attempt to rescue Sheridan from Z'ha'dum with no luck. Delenn's plan to attack the Shadows is met with fierce opposition from the League Worlds. In the meantime, Ivanova and Marcus attempt to solicit aid from some more of the First Ones. Sheridan returns from the dead, bringing one of the true First Ones 'Lorien' with him.

The Vorlon's 'go mad' attacking worlds containing the slightest bit of Shadow influence with the aid of their Vorlon Planet Killer. Sheridan asks Garibaldi to remove Kosh (II) from the station, leading to the death of the second Kosh (with help from the last piece of the first). The Shadows unlease their version of the Planet Killer as Ivanova and Lorien go in search of the last remaining First ones. Delenn and Sheridan find their way through to ending the Shadow War. All the remaining First Ones, including Lorien, the Vorlons and the Shadows leave to go 'beyond the rim' leaving a great many Shadow allies (and probably some Vorlon ones) alone and angry.

MINBARI CIVIL WAR

c2262 (June - August)

Minbar slides towards Civil War, the divisions lying clearly between the Warrior and Religious Castes.

Delenn attempts to work with Neroon (The Warrior Caste member who replaced her on the Grey Council) to diffuse the brewing Minbari Civil War. (After the Grey Council was broken, and the Vorlons left, you could say the whole thing was bound to happen - the Minbari as one people have always had someone to lead them. Now there is noone.)

The Warrior Caste demand Delenn's surrender to end the Minbari Civil War. Neroon sacrifices himself in the Starfire Wheel to save Delenn and end the War.

Delenn forms a new Grey Council with the Worker Caste holding 5 of the 9 positions. The position of Leader is reserved for 'The One who is to come'.

THE DRAKH WAR

Very little is known about this war. Predicted to have happened (or to be happening - depending on your point of view) around the years 2265 - 2278 based on the state of Centauri Prime when Sheridan is thrown into the future briefly. All we can say is that Sheridan & Delenn are bound to get involved somehow, and since they lead the Interstellar Alliance and the Rangers respectively, you can bet that the Minbari will be involved somehow.
