GOING ON HOLIDAY (2007) (Poustie) ©1996/2007 FP International/Bally Rotter Records.

FP knock'em dead in this the very first release from the forthcoming album of re-recorded classics: Deluxe. Originally written in 1996 and released on the FRAMED II album, Going on Holiday, is, as the title suggests, a fun, holiday anthem. The song boasts groovin' verses, an afro-bobbin' chorus, an awesome re-written bridge that is firstly take-it-down and then get-on-down ! And to polish it off the song climaxes with a kick-bottom pianola solo that one expects will have you shakin' your little tusshie like you was in Timbuktu with a sombrero perched upon your afro-carabean hair-do!

REPUBLIC OF LOVE (Fawcett)©2006 FP International/Bally Rotter Records.

First off we've got the title track and killer first single from the new album. This is classic Fawcett/Poustie through and through. This Fawcett penned rock'n'roller finds Nick in awesome slide guitar mode. Instantly recognizable and effortlessly commercial, with groovy riff, downplayed Hammondy verses, upbeat pre-choruses and flag-waving chorus. Don't be mislead by the title though...this ain't a love song...it's a song for the brick layer in you...(Eh ?) Just check it out and watch those old shoes do the PS shuffle. Click on the image to indulge in FP delights !

GIMME SOME SUNSHINE (Poustie) ©2006 FP International/Bally Rotter Records.

Next up we've got a funky beast of a track from the Mr. P stable. Although the song title is nice and happy sounding, the intro guitar riff is nasty, the beat is hard and relentless and it's an all round stomper ! Having said all that, it's commercial, fun and modern, albeit in a classic FP way. Check out the soulful bridge and Harv Flood's inimitable horn section coming in over the funky piano solo towards the end. Mr. F's guitar solo on the other hand is  dangerous and demented lunacy....get your eyes on the horizon and click for the sun baby...

got my eyes on the horizon and it's beaming

MAN OF YESTERDAY (Fawcett)©2006 FP International/Bally Rotter Records.

Pure old school heavy rock'n'roll with blazing guitars, manic honky-tonk piano and punchy brass choruses. This Fawcett barn-stormer is a tribute to the enigmatic Man in Black and a tale of the rise of Fawcett/Poustie all rolled into one ! A madcap theme, which somehow fits the catchy rockin' vibe and turns this song into a bit of a hardcore party anthem all round. "Hey, Hey, Hey, I'm a man of yesterday" ! Turn it up and imagine you're either at the Budokan in 1972 or Northwich 1989..take your pick...and get strummin' that air strat ! Download has been taken down. Click HERE to purchase CD.

SPACE INVADERS (Poustie) ©2006 FP International/Bally Rotter Records.

"Doing my best to save the world from total annihilation, in a cock-pit at the corner of a dingy caf' on the M-6 Service Station". A tongue-in-cheek Poustie comes off as a geeky arcade game junkie in this crazed but commercial hard rocker. The retro early 80's rockfest is hard, fast and as punky as FP have ever been. But don't be surprised if you're doing a bit of a space invader jig by the end of the song and zappin' imaginary blasters at the next door neighbours. 2 minutes of irreverent, or should that be irrelevant,  nonsense. RED SKY TONIGHT (2005) (Poustie) ©1994/2006 FP International/Bally Rotter Records.

Always a bridesmaid, never a bride, the original 1994 version of this song was recorded just after the release of the Mayfair Calypso Club album and remained in the FP vaults for years before finally appearing as a bonus track on the re-mastered version of the album in 2003. This new 2005 version was the first song recorded for the as yet unreleased "Deluxe" album. Poustie has however told FP.com that the band is not overly happy with the 2005 recording and so it will once again be left off the album. Still, it's a real Shepherd's delight of a free download. Get it NOW ! Download has been taken down.

REPUBLIC OF LOVE (Extended 12" Remix) (Fawcett) © 2006 FP International/Bally Rotter Records.

EXCLUSIVE TO FP.COM !! This is an extended 12” Remix of the title track and first single from the band’s latest album “Republic of Love”. Remixed by Chris this version of the song offers a more chilled and basic interpretation of the song to the heavier slide-guitar laden album version. The stripped down approach accentuates the vocals and brings out the keyboard parts giving the song a totally different, mellower, laid-back vibe, whilst still maintaining the light and shade of the original. Also includes an extra minute of music not included on the album !! Enjoy.

FEARLESS (Fawcett) ©2006 FP International/Bally Rotter Records.

Heavy duty rocker from Fawcett which polishes off the ROL album with the typical bombast you would expect from an FP closer. Weighing in at 9-minutes this riff-heavy head-banger tips the hat to classic early 70's hard rock a-la Deep Purple. Featuring blistering guitar and piano solos the song also stretches out to include a groovy sax solo and brilliantly bizarre tin-whistle solo from Harv Flood.  Fearless is quite frankly FP at their fantastic, furious & fearless best !! Don't fear the dark no more my friend...FP are jolly well coming to get you.  Download has been taken down. Click HERE to purchase CD.

....don't fear the dark....

DISCO PARTY ON THE BEACH (Poustie) ©2006 FP International/Bally Rotter Records.

FP take a twist and a spin on this song and enter the salivating dog world that is beach disco. It's an interesting cocktail of a song that is one part funk, two parts rock'n'roll and three parts disco. Add a slice of pineapple and a hairy chest and you too can pretend to be Paul Stanley camping it up at Studio 54 in 1979. Purveyors of molten rock'n'roll, heavy duty funk, tinklings of jazz and classical, plenty of blues and pop....this is probably the first, and perhaps last time FP record a disco song. Well, until the next album anyway. Right, who's first in line for the conga ? Download has been taken down. Click HERE to purchase CD.

WHATEVER HAPPENED TO K ? (Poustie) ©2004 FP International/Bally Rotter Records.

Cool track from 2004's Heading For The Bright Lights album. This groover finds FP in R&B mode paying tribute to an old school pal who continues to remain at large.

Pre-wig days K. Oh yeah !

December 4, 2006: Today marks the 30th anniversary of the passing of one of the greatest musicians of all time: Tommy Bolin.

Fawcett/Poustie have always cited Bolin as one of their biggest influences and the band dedicated their debut album in his honour. The 1991 song Playing For You from the Stocking Filler EP is also written about Tommy. If you are not familiar with the man, you simply must buy his Teaser album. To mark the anniversary we are offering two downloads of Bolin songs, very badly covered by Nick and Chris !

Appropriately enough Nick covers the guitar classic "Wild Dogs" and Chris the piano ballad "Dreamer". The Fawcett recording was made several years ago and features on the FP box set. Poustie's unreleased recording was made in 2005 and may at some point have guitar parts added by Fawcett.

Neither song does justice to the man - but FP wanted to mark the occasion in some way.

September 12, 2006: Finally, after months, or possibly years, the powers that be at Bally Rotter Records have agreed to once again offer free FP downloads for your listening pleasure ! And for starters we've got 4 wonderful new songs from the Republic of Love album !!

You can expect exclusive previews of tracks the band is currently re-recording for future release on the much-hyped, and long-delayed Deluxe album, which was last mooted as having a Christmas release....question is what year ?

But we are assured it is still a work in progress and we have been promised to get the first tasters of it very soon. Colorado Pips, Fairway Revolution, If I Was a Poet...all brand new recordings. Watch out for them, and many more, here soon. It's enough to make Captain Parrot's toes crawl.
