FP embark on journey back in time ! |
August 31, 2005 Bally Rotter Records today revealed that Fawcett/Poustie are currently in the studio re-recording FP songs from the 1992-1996 period. The expectation is that an album of the re-recorded songs will be released by the end of the year. As revealed earlier by FP.com Chris started recording parts for some of his songs in June and has so far recorded the following songs; Red Sky Tonight, Going on Holiday, Love For All Seasons, Colorado Pips and Fairway Revolution. Other songs the band is considering working on include Feed The Monkey, Fruit Shake, The Magic Bowler Hat Ride, Long Way To Go, Sunshine Girl, Forever Was Her Name, If I Was a Poet, The Nurse Said, You’re Gonna Pay and 10,000 Tuesdays. |

It is also possible that the two new songs recorded at the Coach House earlier this year, Ocean Reef and Disco Party on The Beach may feature on the album. Depending on the running time of the songs the band may release a single album of the re-recorded material, or release a double album compilation of songs spanning the entire career of the band. Word from Studio-P suggests that the recordings are progressing fantastically with the band delighted at how the upgraded versions of the old classics are sounding in superior digital sound and with some slight changes in arrangement and in some cases, in the composition of the songs. Colorado Pips could prove something of an additional challenge in that the original version contains guest vocals by Vanessa Green, sister of Chinchok and occasional guest FP-bassist, Lawton Green. Apparently the band intends on recruiting Vanessa’s services once again. So Vanessa, if you are out there, please contact the band ! Meanwhile the original DAT master tape of instrumental versions of the 1999 Chinchok recordings has been dug out of the vaults and digitally transferred to the Cooper’s Court master computer. It is well known that Chris and Nick are not fond of the original vocal performances on the Superdude EP and the plan is for the vocal tracks to be re-recorded, and possibly released on the potential double-album set, or at a later date. Of additional interest to hard-core FP enthusiasts will be that the instrumental versions contain the original un-mastered versions of the songs and are said to sound quite different to the previously released versions, with keyboard levels higher in the mix. With the re-recording process taking the band until the end of the year, it is now officially confirmed that the once-mooted Classical/Instrumental album, is not going to happen any time soon, with the concept put on ice indefinitely. The original intention of the band was to fill in the gap year between new studio albums working separately on parts for the concept album, but the idea of re-recording some of the band’s back catalogue proved more appealing. FP still intends to release the follow-up-proper to Heading For The Bright Lights in the summer of 2006, with work commencing in January. Hopefully the new “Re-recordings” album will be in stores by Christmas 2005 ! |
