FP busy working on future projects

JULY 11-2005

Firstly apologies to FP fans for the lack of communication in recent weeks. The reason being that the band has been busy working on various projects and is still finalizing plans for exactly what will come next from Fawcett/Poustie.

In May the band recorded two new songs - Fawcett’s Ocean Reef and Poustie’s Disco Party on The Beach – at the legendary Coach House studios.

The two songs were scheduled for release as a single in June but were subsequently pulled by Bally Rotter Records who are still waiting for the band to make a decision as to whether or not the tracks will be released as a single or be held back until the band releases its next album.

Sailing on the high...high...high....seas of ROCK'N'ROLL

Earlier in the year the band had been planning to record a concept/instrumental album in 2005, but the recording of the two new non-instrumental songs in May threw the instrumental album concept into question. Now the band is apparently reconsidering the idea and instead is working on other projects.

Nick Fawcett is currently working on a project called the FPME (FP Musical Extravaganza) which is a concept that he has been planning for some years and is expected to bring to life FP music in a theatrical setting of sorts ! Not much is known at this stage, but apparently the title of the extravaganza is prospectively “The Mayfair Calypso Club”. Poustie is expected to join in as Fawcett progresses beyond the planning stage. More news as and when it arrives.

Chris meanwhile has also been busy, working on re-recording some classic FP songs from the past. Rumours out of Studio-P suggest that Chris has already recorded his tracks for Red Sky Tonight, Colorado Pips and also drum tracks for Fawcett’s 13-minute epic If I Was a Poet ! Chris remains tight-lipped on the subject but sources close to the band believe the band is working on re-recording a large number of their classic tracks recorded prior to the band using digital recording technology in 2000. Rumour has it that there may be a compilation of the re-recorded songs out in time for Christmas ! This would certainly be a mouth-watering prospect. There is also the possibility of the re-recordings being used in the FPME.

So although there is not much official word from the FP camp for the time being, one thing’s for certain, the band is very much alive and busy working on the next installment of FP magic. More details as soon as we have them.
