New album taking shape
& views from Studio-P

May, 31st 2004

Recording work continues on the as-yet untitled 12th studio album from FP due for release in August 2004. Pre-production recording sessions will continue into July when Poustie will fly to Fawcett’s Cooper’s Court studio in England for final recording and production work from July 29th to August 1st. After that it is likely that there will be a short period of time in post-production before the final mixing and mastering is completed -  expected to be by mid-August.

Currently both band members are busy writing and recording parts for their songs in their respective home studios, Cooper’s Court and Studio-P in Bangkok.

The latest news is that the band has so far confirmed titles for at least 9 of the prospective 10 songs on the album – with Chris planning to write and record his final song in June.

Nick’s 5 confirmed song titles so far are (subject to change):

Shout About It, Another Morning on Another Day, Holding Down The Hard Times, Mexican Hat and Sunshine of My Day.

Chris’ 4 songs so far are:

Grind You Down, These Are My Streets, Down To Harlem, and 6 a.m. Sky.

Sources close to the band have said that work is progressing ahead of schedule and that the band is very excited about the new material.

Once again expect there to be heavy funk influences on a couple of tracks, a couple of pop-rockers, experimental, progressive rock, heavy blues and also a balladic quasi-epic !

It is not known yet as to whether longtime friend and collaborator, Richard Flood, the veteran saxophonist, will be joining in the sessions although rumours have it that FP are eagerly pursuing the idea. FawcettPoustie.com is also eager to find out and is hoping to track down the elusive jazzman for an exclusive interview. Watch this space !

If Flood does feature it will be his third album in a row with the band after making his debut on the Here on Business album and subsequent This Is It.
