Press Release: October 27, 2007.
After twenty years and thirteen studio albums, rock band Fawcett/Poustie has decided to amicably disband ! But FP fans worry-not as founding members Nick Fawcett and Chris Poustie will continue to perform and work together, alongside band-mate Harv Flood, under the new name “Bally Rotters” !
In recent years Harv Flood had become increasingly involved in Fawcett/Poustie after first guesting on the “Here on Business” album in 2000; was elevated to full band-member status on 2004’s “Heading For The Bright Lights”, and played on 9 of the 10 tracks on the band’s latest release; 2006’s “Republic Of Love”.
Given that FP had become a three-man band with a two-man name, it became increasingly obvious to Nick and Chris that they needed to re-brand the band, and “Bally Rotters” was an obvious choice, given that the moniker and “Bally Rotter” imagery that has been associated with the band since the release of “The Oath Of Two Bally Rotters” album in 1994.
Since 1994 the “Bally Rotters” emblem, a silhouette of Nick and Chris smoking cigars and wearing Dinner Jackets, has been regularly used as a logo for the band, and their record company “Bally Rotter Records”, and on the artwork of releases such as their 2004 box-set “We Rock’n’Roll” as well as on merchandise and the fawcettpoustie.com website.
A band spokesman issued the following statement “They have been trying to come up with a way of bringing Harv Flood into the band name for a couple of years now. They toyed with the idea of “Fawcett/Poustie and Friend” or simply “Fawcett/Poustie/Flood”, but were not overly happy with either. The recent launch of the band’s official online merchandise emporium “The Bally Rotter Shop”, was the deciding factor, as Nick and Chris were faced with the reality of the huge marketing potential of the “Bally Rotter” brand. They are now delighted to have a proper band name in “Bally Rotters”, and with it a brand imagery that is both iconic as well as immediately associated with their legacy.”
“Bally Rotters” are expected to release their debut album in 2008.
