Rarities Box Set Out in December !

September 16, 2003

It's been a busy time of late for F/P what with the release of the remasters series on September 15, the new single Time to Start Again on Friday and the brand new album this is it on Monday 22nd. And there have been some more exciting developments over the past week which Nick Fawcett has exclusively revealed to F/P.com !

After almost a year in the making the rarities collection has now been compiled and is just awaiting final track orders and cover designs. Working tirelessly in secret over the last 7 days Nick has finished trawling through the hundreds of old master tapes, minidiscs and CDs that the band have amassed over the last 18 years and we are now in a position to give a few details:

  • Release date - Christmas 2003

  • 5 CD collection

  • 5hrs 21mins running time

  • Over 100 tracks

  • Earliest track dates back to 1985

  • Mixture of alternative takes, unreleased demos, early demos, studio outtakes, ideas and jams plus much, much more !

More details will be announced as we know them.

Apparently Nick is still trying to track down two elusive rarities: An unreleased demo called My Brother which Nick wrote as tribute to Chris in 2000 and an ultra rare acapella demo by Chris of 'Purple Orchids from '91/'92. The inclusion of these would complete the set.

F/P Plan Rarities Box Set !

July 7, 2003 Fawcett Poustie have revealed details that an incredible career-spanning rarities box-set is in the works.

Nick Fawcett came up with the idea in December 2002 after a session rummaging through the enormous vault of released and un-released F/P master tapes !

The release is very much in the planning stage at the moment but there appears to be so much material available that it could extend to as many as 3 or 4 discs.

Due to the nature of the "unreleased" material it is likely that the album will be strictly limited edition aimed at the hardcore fan base.

Nick Fawcett eleborates on the project "Well it's going to be packed with early F/P versions, demos, alternative takes, jams, solo recordings, other collaborations, studio banter and various other tit bits - I went through loads of old tapes last night and there's all sorts of rough diamonds there ready for polishing"

"There's literally a hundred tapes to go through so it could take a while but it's a totally tasty challenge"

Some of the lost gems on offer include a vocal performance of "Nancy's Tea Party" called "In Your Arms" recorded presumably in 1991 or before. The first ever Fawcett/Poustie recording of "We Rock'n'Roll" which is thought to have been recorded around 1986. Two different versions of both "Suzy" and "Make It" which didn't make it onto the 1994 Mayfair Calypso Club album.

Some other prospective titles lying around the can include the following; HOB badmuthamix, Wild Dogs, Poustie's Stomp, Belgian Screwdriver demo, Going to Mexico acoustic intrumental, Going to Mexico A-Team mix, Show me how bad you are, Law Machine, Look At Me Now, Trance with me baby, Zephyrtech, Lucky Charm, Walking on Broken Glass, I Feel Alright, Who's That Mr. Man, You're Love's Divine,  Aeroplane, Me and My Honky Tonk, Dancing on the Table.

Don't expect a release any time soon - the band would like to release in 2003, possibly in time for Christmas, but with current effort being put into this is it and then potentially a new "Chinchok" release, the box-set could be put on the back burner.

The prospective title for the project ? What else ? "We Rock'n'Roll".
