Progress

So far to the early 1998

The Elan has come a long way since its discovery in 1988. The number of tea chests has decreased to one and my knowledge of the Elan +2 and greatly increased. The engine has been inspected and the wear confirms the verbal evidence that the car has done about 60,000 miles. The brake system is 90% complete and the handbrake system needs to be completed.

Originally the Car had steel wheels, after its accident there was a collection bent and rusty steel wheels. I managed to locate a set of five original alloys which need some refinishing but were a bargain and they included a new set of Goodyear tyres.

The battery for the Elan was small and located in the boot, I have replaced it with the latest technology which provides more starting amps. I have changed the mounting system for the battery to provide a more secure attachment to the body and added an Isolated switch for security.

The Car as I bought it had no exhaust system, Christopher Neil (one of the main suppliers of spares) had a stainless steel system including manifold for a bargain price of £ 105.

Work continues slowly but surely, please check out the Plans.
