Newsdesk Update
1st September 2010 – ............... Opportunity of a lifetime to own a piece of Scrapheap history
For all you
Scrapheap Challenge fans and followers this is a unique opportunity to
own a piece of true Scrapheap history. Anyone who knows anything about
the fantastic shows produced by RDF Media will remember the multi
winning team Cat-alysts consisting of the Jaguar engineers Shane, Tim
and their infamous team captain Garry. Their combined scrapheap
skill led them to create the Scrapheap Challenge Grand Final champions
racing car 'Slick Pink' at the end of series-6 in 2003, click here to remind yourself what they created.
.
.
This wonderful car did not stop at winning the Scrapheap Challenge 2003
title, but it immediately went on to do a tour of the Jaguar and Land
Rover plants in the West Midlands and Liverpool. The following year the
car appeared at local fetes' where the Cat-alysts thrilled the crowds
with driving demonstrations around the running track. Since then it has
actually been used for 'track day' racing where it performed remarkably
well. The car has a also appeared on 'Piston Heads' under track
day and show cars. For the last few years the car has been
carefully stored without use but now the time has come for the car to
move on to pastures new, and this is where the Cat-alysts have
considered the Scrapheap Challenge fans. The Cat-alysts decided
that it was not right for this
item of Scrapheap history to be simply scrapped or crushed to death so
they wondered what special use or loving care the car could be given by
the dedicated Scrapheap fans.
.
If you feel you can offer the Cat-alysts winning racing car 'Slick Pink' a good home to keep it alive and intact then email your ideas to cat-car@garfirth.globalnet.co.uk
where your proposals will be forwarded for consideration by the
Cat-alysts themselves. They will be looking for ideas that will
retain the car in one piece and especially if it can be used to assist
new engineering blood to understand the same engineering principles
that helped the Cat-alysts to become Scrapheap champions. This
opportunity is open to individuals, schools and evening groups alike so
get thinking and get those emails in.
The winning idea will be contacted by email and the car will need to be collected from the Kent area by the winner.
.
Email your ideas to cat-car@garfirth.globalnet.co.uk
Please include your UK town location, email address, and contact number.
Please provide details if you are involved in a group venture.
.
GOOD LUCK !!!

7th November 2009 – ............... WELL MAYBE NOT THE END OF SERIES-11 AFTER ALL !!!!!!!!!!
What a difference
a week makes. A follower of the Steve G Scrapheap who has been in
contact with Channel4 asking where his Sunday injection of Scrapheap
had dissapeared to has received this reply back direct from the TV
company themselves.
Thank you for contacting Channel 4 Viewer Enquiries regarding SCRAPHEAP
CHALLENGE.
Unfortunately, this series has been split into two halves. The first half is
scheduled to be repeated in very early 2010 and the second half will be
transmitted for the first time in Autumn 2010. Unfortunately, there are no
exact dates as schedules more than two weeks ahead are subject to change.
You can keep up to date with our listings at: www.channel4.com/listings
We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Please be assured your comments
have been forwarded for the information of those responsible for our
programming.
Thank you again for taking the time to contact us here at Channel 4 and for

1st November 2009 – ............... and so it came to rest !
Following the
very poor reviews from the world premiere of Scrapheap Challenge
series-11 on Australian ABC television, this latest series hiding under
the name of Scrapheap Challenge later aired in the UK and
unfortunately met with the same UK poor reviews from the viewing public.
Tonight without any warning the series appears to have just
falling off the edge of the planet .................. and the sad story
is that very few people will miss this latest scrapheap series. It is
however very sad for the teams that did take part but have as yet
failed to reap any reward on screen for all their effort.
.
For this reason The Steve G Scrapheap has now moved the 'Newsdesk Updates' into the history archives where you will find all things
Scrapheap covering the first ten years of successful Scrapheap
Challenge from the original pilot show presenter Sally Gray through the
fantastic times of Robert Llewellyn when he was joined in the UK series
by Cathy Rogers and later by Lisa Rogers .
.
Scrapheap
Challenge you served us proud and now we say goodnight and goodbye.
May the world of Scrapheap live on through the actions of many of
us every time we have to 'bodge' and 'make do' to get something working
from nothing.
.
The Steve G Scrapheap.

hyperactive 'Buzz' of the series 1 rocket fame, Trev Smith and Rob

a little something from myself about both the Demolition 'Muncher' and
the UK vs USA 'Car Crusher'. During 2003 Jay's site has included an
additional interview that has caused a little controversy within the
ranks of the true Scrapheap vets, a little like a Sunday newspaper
'sell my soul' than scrapheap reality, all the same well worth a read.

The
reason that Channel 4 / RDF Television contacted me is because my work
with Liebherr involves
working with tonnes of steel and hydraulic control systems. Liebherr
have manufactured the hydraulic demolition machine that
was used in front of the World media for the UK Wembley Stadium
demolition project and achieved it's goal with ease. The machine
nicknamed as 'Goliath' by the public is similar to
the Chaos Crew 'Muncher' that I designed but much MUCH MUCH BIGGER ! This is me on the machine.
