Italy's very first jet
aerobatic team came from 4° Aerobrigata, based at Capodichino, and
consisted of four De Havilland Vampires. They chose a name for their team,
Cavallino Rampante, which was derived from their squadron emblem and literally
translated means "Little Rampant Horses".
They had no colourful
markings and no smoke making equipment, but they caused great excitement with
their many displays around Italy and also one in Belgium.
