ACCESS STATEMENT FOR GLEN HELEN COTTAGES

· There is room for 3 cars to be parked at the front of the property. 
· There is a gently sloping path to the front door of the cottages. 
· At night a security light operates and there is a porch light in each cottage doorway. 
· Each cottage has a small step into the entrance.
· The cottages were built in the 1790's but have been fully modernized.

Ø Cottage one has a level floor into the lounge.
Ø All rooms are fully lit and there are sockets for electrical appliances.
Ø There is a step down into the kitchen from the hall. 
Ø All the kitchen units and cooker are at the standard working height. 
Ø There is a cordless kettle and the taps are operated by a turning action.
Ø The kitchen units and cooker, and microwave are all at standard height.
Ø From the hall there are a flight of 10 stairs, without any turn to the upstairs level. 
Ø There is a hand rail on the right hand side.   
Ø The double bedded room is on the same level as the landing, which has a dimmer switch.
Ø From the landing, there is one step up to the bathroom and two steps into the twin bedded room. 
Ø All the beds can be accessed from both sides. 
Ø The bathroom contains a bath which has two grab rails with a shower attachment over. 
Ø There is a standard size toilet and wash basin with a light and shaving socket over. 
Ø All the taps are operated by a turning action. 

Ø Cottage two has a level ground floor from the porch. 
Ø All rooms are fully lit and there are sockets for electrical appliances.
Ø The kitchen units and cooker, and microwave are all at standard height.
Ø From the lounge there is a flight of ten stairs with a hand rail on the left to the upper floor.  There are not any turn in the stairs and there is a dimmer switch.
Ø The bedrooms and the shower room are on the same level.   
Ø The single bed  has access from one side while the double bed has access from both sides.
Ø The shower room contains a full size shower cubicle with closing doors. 
Ø There is a standard size toilet and wash basin with a light and shaving socket over. 
Ø All taps are operated by a turning action. 

· Outside the cottages there are two level patio areas and lawns and a sloping lawn.
· Standard garden furniture is provided. 
· There is level access to an outside standard toilet and a separate wash house containing a modern clothes-washing machine and electric clothes-dryer.
