IRON AGE FORTS are in the area with one on the top of Llanymynech rocks and the spectacular Old Oswestry which has links with Queen Guinevere.
HISTORY and heritage in the immediate locality of further afield there is Ironbridge [a world heritage site] and the Roman cities of Chester and Wroxeter
CANALS the Montgomery canal, though disused, is under renovation and runs through the village. The Montgomery connects to the Llangollen canal which is famous for its Thomas Telford aqueducts.
STEAM TRAINS are at Welshpool to the south and Llangollen to the north.
CASTLES of Powis, Shrewsbury and Chirk are within easy distance by car as is Erddig, voted one of the top ten places to visit in Britain.
GOLF at Llanymynech Golf Club is within walking distance and there are several other courses within a 10 mile radius
WALKING from gentle ambles to more challenging expeditions. Both types can start from the front door or from other points reached by car. A gentle stroll, including Offa's Dyke path, takes you from England to Wales and back again.
EATING at a good number of places with the Cross Guns Inn a couple of minutes walk away and several other establishments in the locality.
HORSE RIDING is available locally.FISHING is available on the Rivers Severn, Vyrnwy and Tanat or nearby fisheries.
