Issue Eleven - The Capital's Media

When the current football season started explains David Corcoran, the Welsh media as usual nailed their colours to the mast and proclaimed their wholehearted support for their beloved Scum City. That is as its always been, and always will be. From the Western Mail to HTV to the Bluebird Broadcasting Corporation, the hacks that make up the Welsh media industry are Scum City through and through and are desperate for their chosen team to succeed. Every season they spew out the same old lines and interviews about Cardiff being a sleeping giant and that a city the size of Cardiff deserves Premiership football as if it was some God given right that is being denied them. I am sure that some of the more rabid scum followers amongst the capital's media are convinced that their team shouldn't have to play their way through the Divisions, as the Swans so gloriously did in the 70s and 80s but should, in fact, be automatically promoted straight to the Premiership and for good measure be allowed into the proposed European Super League with the likes of Arsenal, AC Milan and Barcelona. What the spivs and bums that masquerade as journalists conveniently forget, is that the Scum are not a sleeping giant but more like a comatose corpse. They last appeared in the top Division way back in the early 60s, a gap of over 30 years.

In the last 20 years, they have only finished once above the Swans in the League. Apart from their promotion and Welsh Cup win of 1993, which we are constantly reminded of, the Scum have been an ordinary mediocre team. These facts are just too unpalatable for their loyal supporters in the media to stomach and as each barren season joins another they become more and more desperate to find any success that they can bestow onto their team. They will publish any story, and transmit any pictures, so long as they show Cardiff City in a good light. Over the last few seasons, the Welsh television companies have gone to extraordinary lengths to show the Scum on our screens. When Fat Bastard Rick Wright was in charge, the Scum would regularly feature in the main evening news as well as the Sports news. When the blueshits had a passable FA Cup campaign, the BBC used our licence fee money to make sure that their games against football giants as Luton Town and Man City were shown live across Wales. Remarkably enough when the Swans appeared at Wembley twice in three years the BBC couldn't give a toss.

Of course, when questioned about their lack of interest in the Swans, the BBC cited contractual difficulties. That is pure bullshit, because if that had been the Scum at Wembley you could have bet that BBC Wales would have moved heaven and earth to have shown the games. More recently, their partners in the Scum City conspiracy, HTV Wales, have stooped to showing clips of Nathan Blake, ex-Scum City, scoring a hat-trick against the mighty Hartlepool in the Worthington Cup. That really is trawling the depths when they have to resort to showing ex players of the Scum scoring goals. What next? David Penney winning a corner for Doncaster? But if you think the television companies are biased, they are nothing compared to the bias shown by BBC Radio Wales, the Western Mail or the Wales On Sunday. In the case of tomorrow's fish and chip wrappers - It would be insulting to call them newspapers - they become ever more desperate to print anything, and I do mean anything, about the Scum. As the results on the pitch in recent seasons haven't amounted to much, so they have resorted, more and more, to printing stories about life off the pitch. I am stick to death of seeing articles about Joan Hill, the Blond Bimbo who is chief executive at the Scum, being one of the growing breed of women taking control of football. So fucking what! Who cares? The Wales On Sunday even printed a 3/4 page devoted to the wanker who appears in the Sky adverts dressed in a Scum shirt. The Chairman of the Scum Supporters Club has now taken over the Editorship of the paper. What really pisses me off about all this bias in favour of our sworn enemies, is that it is done by a media that laughingly calls itself representatives of Wales. What Bollocks! They represent Cardiff and Cardiff alone. So what can the true Swans fan do to show our displeasure? Well, for a start, if you get the chance, have a go at any supporters you see from the Scum Media. Please I don't mean physical abuse but certainly verbal. After all, they have insulted you for years with their slavish devotion to the Scum. Also, write to the various chip paper, television companies and radio stations to complain. You never know, they might, in error, print a letter criticising themselves. Lastly, the chant from the North Bank to "Stick Your Soccer Sunday Up Your Arse" is great, but let us not forget the real villains are BBC Wales who actually use your money to promote their love for the Scum, so how about a couple of choruses of "The BBC Are Wankers", or something equally insulting. Let them know we have had a gut full of being given a diet of Scum crap all the time and until they give more balanced reporting we should make them unwelcome at the Vetch.
