FOOTBALL / REFERENCE
Tony Kempster's
Fixtures and Results
Now working in conjunction with The Football
Pyramid (below), this site includes fixture listings and results grids &
tables for the top NINE levels of football's league hierarchy (Premier League
to Hampshire League).
The Football
Pyramid
Paul Crankshaw's site is now concentrating on giving details of
the three major national Cup competitions, - F.A. Cup, Trophy and Vase - and so
complements Tony Kempster's site (see above). Between the two, everything the
cyber-fan could ask in terms of up to date information.
Non-League News
Desk
For those who may want to keep up with the whole Non-League world
in print, NLND is an excellent publication that details, each week, all
the scores and draws from the Non-League scene. The magazine also includes
details of player transfers, managerial changes, club & ground alterations
and is based on the, newly published, Non-League News Desk Annual. This site
gives details of how to subscribe and, in my experience, it is worth every
penny if Non-League is your thing.
The Football
Club History Database
A remarkable website in that it details the
performance and league status of hundreds (probably thousands - I haven't
counted!) of clubs at all levels of competition. Even better, it is being
updated regularly to show performance in the current as well as past seasons in
the FA Cup, Trophy & Vase competitions.
FOOTBALL / WESSEX LEAGUE
Andover FC
Official Web-site
A well presented site that could provide the basics
for any "Lions" fan. Seems not to have been updated for some considerable time
however, which is disappointing for an 'official site'.
Andover FC Unofficial
Web-site
Real "in your face" presentation but, unlike it's official
counter-part, is bang up to date. Ambitious archive under construction.
Fleet Town
Official Web-site
Reflecting the fact that most non-league teams above
football pyramid level 8 (Wessex League) have embraced the Internet, newly
relegated Fleet's site has good presentation (if a little slow on account of
all the graphics) but seems to have lost heart in keeping up to date.
Swanage Town & Herston
Official Web-site
A neat, compact, well-presented site which
(refreshingly) appears to be up to date in terms of information including (as
with this site) other Wessex results beyond those directly affecting the
club.
Wimborne Town
Web-site
It was not clear if this was an official or unofficial site -
my guess is the later. Real "Black & White" in presentation, it gives all
the information needed by any "Magpies" fan.
FOOTBALL / LOCAL & HAMPSHIRE
Cherries
Newly
relaunched (as of 10/08/01) Official website of AFC Bournemouth - home of the
Cherries
.....oh well (if you really
must).....
Saints Official website of
Southampton FC - home of the Saints
Pompey Official website of
Portsmouth FC - home of the Pompey Chimes
Farnborough Town
Back in the Conference. An unofficial site (It's better than the
official one)
Aldershot Town
Official website of 'The Shots' (Ryman League Premier
Division)
Basingstoke Town
Official website of 'Stoke (Ryman League Premier Division)
Havant &
Waterlooville
Rich Self's unofficial but bang up to date and right on
the money style website for The Hawks from the Doc Marten's League Premier
Division.
Newport
(IoW)
The much loved "Up the Port" (sic) - unofficial but who cares when
you've just been promoted?
Bashley
The
infamous "Bashnet" run by Pete & Monsoon. All you want to know about The
Bash (as if) or how the other half lives. They don't get much more local than
this!
Ringwood
Town
A very decent offering from one of our closest Hampshire League
neighbours. With all those Wessex sides out there apparently unable to enter
the internet age (or not sufficiently capable of promoting their sites so that
we can find them) this is an object lesson. Well done the Town
!!
Poole Town
Thanks to
Steve Bean for drawing this excellent site concerning last season's Hampshire
League runners-up to my attention. Puts sites operated by supposedly "bigger"
clubs to shame. Sorry we had to take Richie Glenister back from you guys but
good luck for the season!
Poole
Borough
Graham Pauley's well-presented site representing Pete Morrell
& Tommy Heffernan's Dorset County outfit who finished runners-up (we know
all about that position) last season. Many thanks to Pete for helping us out
during the last campaign and good luck to the Borough in their efforts to go
one better this time.
