SENIOR EVENING LEAGUE RULES
1. ELIGIBILITY
The Competitions shall be open to any member club of Cricket Erewash. Clubs wishing to enter the Competition must register by 31st. October for the following season. The Cricket Erewash Management Committee whose decision on any matter arising there from or any question of interpretation will be final will administer the competitions. The Annual Subscription shall be £15 per team, which includes all fees for competitions and handbooks. In addition a returnable deposit of £27 per Club will be required on joining. ALL FEES TO BE PAID BY MARCH 1.
2. COMPETITIONS
The Competition will be on a League Basis. In the event of a tie for 1st place, a play‑off' to be arranged. All Trophies to be returned by July 15th to the Management Committee (penalty for non‑return £10.). For Cup Competitions the Playing Rules are identical to the league rules except for no points allocation, with the winner moving forward to the next round.
3. REGISTRATIONS
All players must be registered. Each team to submit a list of players and their addresses by May 1st to the RESULTS SECRETARY. Additions to the list may be made to 31st May by notification in writing to the Secretary. From the 1st June, no additions may be made to the list without Management Committee approval (which will be given for a valid and stated reason). A player may play for 1 team only in a season. The playing of unregistered players is expressly forbidden. Any Club doing so will lose all points gained from the match and will be fined £10. The Management Committee is empowered to call for the score‑book of any team in the Competition. Players registered with the Erewash Youth Cricketers’ League for a Club may play without restriction in both league and cup matches for that club.
4. RULING LAWS
The M.C.C. Laws of Cricket will apply except where modified by these rules.
5. PROTESTS
Any team may protest to the Management Committee. Such a protest to be in writing and lodged with the League Secretary, together with £5 within 4 days of the match concerned. The £5 is returnable in the event of the protest being upheld. Should the protest be upheld, then the Management Committee will take action against the defaulting Club as appropriate.
6. OVERS LIMITATION
Each game is to consist of fourteen 8‑ball* overs per side. (The 14 overs may be reduced due to inclement weather and the batting bonus reduced on a pro-rata basis. A minimum of 10 overs a side to constitute a match). If a bowler is unable to continue either through injury or through the intervention of the Umpire under Law 42, then another member of the team shall complete the over in progress. The extra balls bowled to complete such an over count as a complete over towards a bowler's 4 over minimum. Where a side is dismissed before the conclusion of its 14 overs, its innings is terminated. No member of any side may bowl more than 4 overs.
* The 8 ball over is by ‘Special Regulation’ by Cricket Erewash’.
7. CANCELLED FIXTURES
Fixtures must be played on the dates arranged, subject to conditions permitting and no alteration is permitted after the fixture list is published except under very exceptional circumstances and with the prior consent of the Management Committee. Failure to fulfil a fixture: ‑ all points, including bonus points, IE 20, to be awarded to the opposition. In addition a £15 fine will be imposed, £10 going to the opposition and £5 to the allotted umpires unless the opposition were prior notified. The offending team are also responsible for the pitch fee.
8. FITNESS TO PLAY
If the Ground Authority has not cancelled the match then: - prior to the toss, the two Captains are responsible for determining the fitness for play, and if both agree, then that is the decision. If there is disagreement then the Umpires resolve the issue. Once the Toss has taken place then the Umpires are solely responsible for determining fitness for play.
9 REPLAYS For Year 2008
Matches cancelled or abandoned due to inclement weather are TO BE REPLAYED. Two reserve dates have been allocated at the season end to facilitate this. Teams to agree a date, book a pitch with Erewash Borough Council, and notify organiser.
10. STARTING TIME
Start time of a match is 6.30 p.m., or earlier if both teams are ready. The start must not be delayed beyond 6.35 p.m. In the event of 1 team delaying the start for any reason beyond 6.35pm and the opposition having 11 players available then the team with 11 players may claim the right to bat first. Umpires are instructed to report late starts to the Management Committee for the appropriate action.
Guideline Notes!
"An innings should take no more than 70 minutes total. All fielding captains should ensure that their overs and change‑round are completed in less than 5 minutes/over. Batting captains are expected to ensure that the incoming and outgoing batsmen cross on the field of play." This will be monitored, and all umpires are expected to record start and finish times of each innings on the Result Sheet.
