UPGRADE OF FACILITES – OUTDOOR PRACTICE NETS.

The club has started the process of replacing the current outdoor nets and cage with three batting and bowling ends enclosed in a netted enclosure. They will be located adjacent to the pavilion is a similar position to the current practice batting end. The council have already agreed to the construction of the facility which will not be permanent and will consequently not require planning permission.

The club has asked two contractors to quote for the work of installing three no maintenance batting ends and probably enclosed by a caged structure [42’] with a roof. However the Club Development Group are also looking at a system which allows the nets to be stored [i.e. Radford Ezy net] in a box and quickly erected for practice.

The club has obtained three substantial strips on no-turf material with the intention of using it for three bowling ends which can now installed as the rugby’s club’s in goal area is no longer an issue.

It is anticipated that the facility will require a £20,000 investment – details of the funding plan are detailed below. It is however very likely that the funding plan will change over time – so be prepared for changes

The current time line suggests that we might install the facility late July and early August. To improve our chances of obtaining lottery funding we plan to secure Lord Taverner’s funding before submitting our lottery bid – in takes eight weeks to obtain a decision from the lottery board.
