Statement from the Chairman 2008

 

I cannot disguise my disappointment over the events of the 2007 season. The 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd and 4^th teams all being relegated and the eventual demise of our 5^th Xl. I think we can safely draw a line under 2007 and just use it to motivate us to a level of never letting that happen to us again.

 

On a more successful note, our Juniors continue to perform, our Kwik teams improve every year, our u11’s were league champions as were both of our u13 teams and our u15’s won their Cup competition. Our u12 and u14 teams beat all the local competition and will compete Nationally this year, and a wonderful achievement by our u19 indoor cricket team being awarded the Derbyshire ‘Team of the Year’.

 

Our Juniors continue to step up and play an active and competitive role in Senior cricket and I would like to thank our Junior coaches for all the time they continue to give in making this happen.

 

I would like to give special thanks to all those volunteers who give so much of their free time in the running of our club, especially those who have helped in the development of two pavilion extensions and the building of a new score-box in the last three years with both effort and financial support, and to all our sponsors, THANK YOU!

 

Finally, I am really looking forward to this new season and feel sure that all our teams will do well. Let us play with enthusiasm and enjoyment for this great sport, and let us show our rivals what we are really made of!
