Tony's workshop is located in rural Norfolk, overlooking the sand dunes which protect the land from the North Sea.
Norfolk has been rich in heritage from the time of Bodicea and the North Folk!
Local grown timber is used by a number of craft workers and comes from estates active for hundreds of years. Tony first became interested in wood at the age of four when he visited his grandfather, a retired horse dealer. His adoring grandfather maintained a large block of wood for banging nails in. After every visit his grandfather would dutifully remove the nails, straighten them, and make them ready for the next time.
Tony completed an engineering apprenticeship which included a period in the foundry pattern shop. A great deal was learnt about the accurate shaping and fitting of wood into complicated patterns for use in producing castings.
Today Tony is a grandfather himself and eager to teach his grandchildren the skills of creating beautiful things from wood. The same hammer he used at the age of 4 is now being used by his grandson.
Many of the products made by Craft Experience are for grandparents to purchase for their loved ones.
