The Astrological chart of

HAITI

(Written February 29th 2004)

This is a 'difficult' national chart. Within the 'inverted bowl' shaping of the chart (an imbalance of energies) there is a preponderance of square aspects. (The destiny of this nation is fraught with continual challenges). The bowl is held between the Moon in Virgo opposite Pluto in Pisces. (This gives rise to tense and traumatic power struggles). Mars is tightly square Saturn, (akin to driving a car hard with the brakes on, resulting in something overheating). Mercury is square Uranus, (shocking, sudden unthinking rebellion), Venus is applying to a square with Jupiter (over estimation). The planets are in mainly cardinal, earth and feminine signs giving a Capricornian feel to the map. It's a very 'heavy weather' astrological chart.

In early 2004, ( the bi-centenary year of Haitian Independence), Uranus in Pisces opposes the natal Moon in the Haiti chart. It is at this time that the country comes to the attention of the world, as rebel forces start to attempt to take control. At that time the progressed Sun in Cancer is square progressed Jupiter, the progressed Moon in late Sagittarius, is gibbous in phase, and is applying square to progressed Saturn. All in all this represents a tough situation with even more climatic events ahead.

This progressed Moon is Full and in Partial Lunar Eclipse in June 2007 at 30 degrees Capricorn. (This relates to the 'real eclipse' which occurred on July 22nd 1804, 203 days after independence). Between 2004 and 2007 therefore this country approaches a mighty climax of events. The Cancer/Capricornian emphasis with its tribal foundations dominate proceedings in this period. However after this time (August 2007 onwards in fact) the progressed Sun moves into Leo, the progressed Moon slips into Aquarius and a more egalitarian and cosmopolitan future may be born.
