This Partial Eclipse is member 57 of a Saros series of 70. The Saros cycle to which this eclipse belongs began way back in the last century before the year 1000 AD. This eclipse is member 57 of 70 eclipses in the series. The most recent eclipse in the series was on DEC 15th 1982, before that series members were on Dec. 4th 1964, Nov. 23rd 1946, Nov. 12th 1928, and Nov. 2nd 1910. The next eclipse in the series will be on Jan 6th 2019. The series will come to an end in the year 2234 AD.

The Eclipse is visible from North America. The eclipse begins at 15-26.37 UT reaches maximum eclipse at 17-34.51 UT, and ends at 19-43.12 UT. The eclipse chart is dominated by two major features, one is the triple conjunction of the Sun, the Moon and the planet Mercury in Capricorn. The other feature is the separating conjunction of Venus and Uranus in Aquarius. Positioned at four degrees Capricorn the eclipsed Sun is sextile Mars and semi-sextile Neptune. The triple Conjunction of the Sun, Moon and Mercury sextiling Mars in Scorpio form a 'finger of fate' or 'yod' planetary picture with, and concentrated upon, Jupiter in Gemini. The Daze predicts that the effect of this eclipse may be to invoke ambition, initiation, and establishment. Its symbolism suggests a marriage of technology and enterprise. The energies are tropically Capricornian, and Aquarian. The triple conjunction represents a surge of pragmatic, deeply grounded, and visionary energy. This Eclipse sets into motion very practical 'earthy' events. Its vibration will extend all over the Christmas period, adding a touch of astrological magic to the season. It serves to set the scene for the Total Lunar Eclipse on January 9th 2001.

Happy Christmas.

At the moment of greatest eclipse, The Sun, Moon and Mercury are setting just off shore of both Casablanca in Morocco and Lisbon in Portugal, and at Lagos in Nigeria. The same three bodies are due west at Asuncion in Paraguay, and in Baghdad Iraq. They are conjunct the MC at Havana, Detroit, and Cincinnati, rising over Fiji Island in the Pacific, and are at lower culmination in Rangoon, Burma.

Saturn rises over Recife in Brazil. Uranus rises at Las Vegas, Montreal, Los Angeles and San Diego. Mars rises square the MC in Seoul. Korea.

Over the UK Cancer rises, and Saturn is conjunct the ASC/MC midpoint.
