THE BATTLE FOR CEFN CROES

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

We would like to thank:

Martin Wright who set up the Cefn Croes Campaign, spoke at public meetings, and gave press interviews, appearing on local and national TV and radio.

Elizabeth Morley and John Etherington who contributed chapters and are active members of the group.

Richard Wilson who ran the Cefn Croes Campaign official website.

Dr Meredydd Evans and his daughter Eluned who translated into Welsh the Campaign newsletters and posters.

David Mervyn Birch who wrote strong letters to the press and supported us in our legal challenge.

Brynmor Morgan, an active supporter of the Campaign group who spoke out against the development on Welsh radio and TV.

David Morgan Jones, retired solicitor brought up in Aberystwyth, for his professional assistance during the legal proceedings. He also contributed the 'Legal Challenge' chapter and has been a truly supportive friend.

Lord Carlile QC and Neville Thomas QC who represented us in the High Court and John Campbell QC for his practical and moral support throughout.

Lyn Jenkins and Ioan Richard, who deserve a special mention. From his fax machine, Lyn has continuously bombarded editors of all the Welsh newspapers - and some nationals as well - with passionate, punchy letters. Both he and Ioan have fiercely defended their native land at every opportunity raising consciousness about the menace of massive turbines in the Welsh hills.

Linda Woodward who kindly offered to proof-read this document and give advice on its presentation. Any remaining errors are solely the responsibility of the authors and editor.

Peggy Liford who with great patience, good humour and hard work pulled together the manuscript and typed it.

A special thank you to the Radnorshire branch of CPRW, other local branches and individual members of CPRW for their support.

In addition thanks to the hundreds of people throughout Wales and beyond who took the time and trouble to write well-reasoned letters to Ceredigion Council, the National Assembly, and the DTI. Although apparently ignored, their conviction and the strength of their arguments must, one hopes, ultimately have an effect on the groundswell of opposition and may eventually change government policy.

Finally, an acknowledgement to our patient and tolerant families, partners and friends who have supported us throughout this long campaign. They have endured endless phone calls, late meals and our physical and mental absences!
