Some of our Memories

BBBBBRRRRIIIINNNNGGGGG!!!! That’s the fire bell we had to listen to if there was a fire. We were at Wembworthy for a whole two nights. On the first night of our trip we went for a midnight hike, literally at midnight! We set off with our wellies and torches into the dark forest, we got right into the middle of the forest and suddenly Mrs. Tamlyn said, “Turn your torches off children.” We all stared at her gob smacked. Turn our torches off? In the middle of the night when it’s pitch black? You’ve got to be joking! So there we were in the middle of a forest at about half past twelve. At night. Then Mrs. Tamlyn said, “ Let’s take a short cut.” So we took a short cut. We didn’t know where we were going. I don’t think even Mrs. Tamlyn knew where she was going! We got back out onto the road again and then home. We were all glad to be back in bed.

YYEESS! Finally, the moment I’ve been waiting for. I was the carnival princess in the carnival! I’ve always wanted to do this. The two other girls were friendly too. We travelled round Braunton in a very nice horse and cart. It was one of the best experiences of my life and I’ll never forget it.
The
summer fete is always fun and has lots of activities to do. Last year’s
summer fete, my mum sang in it, which was great. We did broom dancing and
some of the others did the maypole. We had games like the tombola, bouncy
castles, food, drink, even people voting for who they want to be covered in
baked beans and flour, and much more.
On the first night of our three-day trip to London we went to see a spectacular act, THE LION KING!!! Wow! The costumes were amazing. It must have taken weeks to make them. The stage was huge. We were all sitting waiting for the big, red velvet curtains to open, then suddenly the lights dimmed. We all knew this was going to be the best part of our London trip.

My proudest moments were when I won Gold in sports day challenge and another proudest moment was when Georgeham football team got into the final of KingsAcre football tournament. We lost on penalties but in the final we were one-nil down, and with twenty seconds to go Alex crossed the ball to me. I shot. It hit the outside of my boot and before it had even gone in I knew it was going to be a goal. And all I remember after that was Alex jumping on my back and knocking me over. Finally my last proudest moment was when I won the mini-marathon. I ran around the field three times and I defended it successfully again the next year. I was the first person to do that in the history of the school.
My best school trip was when all Year 6s went to London and we went to watch the Lion King. Before it started I thought ‘Great – it’s going to be one of those stupid pantomimes when they get a bunch of kids to sing, when they don’t even know how to sing at all, and then they give them a load of goody bags at the end for doing nothing’ But as soon as the curtains opened, the most vibrant and extravagant colours came leaping out of the stage. It was the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen.
My most frustrating moment was when Georgeham football team were in the final of Caen football tournament against Caen. We thought the match was over because the ref had already played 4 minutes of extra time, and only 1 was supposed to have been played, and the score was 2-1 to Georgeham. Then suddenly the ref awarded a penalty for the ball hitting Ben on the shoulder. I was really frustrated and annoyed because it shouldn’t have been so much extra time anyway, and I got even more annoyed because they beat us on penalties. I felt like I wanted to punch the Ref!

My
Proudest Moment
Ready! Set! Go! We were all zooming off down the beach, Putsborough to
Woolacombe on a sponsored walk. My two friends and I started off well then I
dropped back into third place with a different friend. We both came second by
1 minute 23 seconds. That was my proudest moment at Georgeham School.
Sports day at Georgeham is excellent, and gets us very fit. You go around to lots of different activities and you can win a bronze, silver or gold certificate. Last year I got a gold on most events. Now we have family groups and we do our relays as a team.
Last year we came second in the tag rugby tournament and won the plate. I scored around five tries in all of the games that I played. When we played this year we came 3rd, but we were against bigger schools, so we had done really well.
Wembworthy was my favourite school trip. Straight after the orienteering, we made dens with sticks and long branches from the trees in the woods. The hardest part was getting the biggest branches to stay on the one tree, without it falling off. There were four different groups and we were all rushing around to find the best sticks. We only got fifteen minutes to build the dens and our group was only half way to finishing, so we didn’t win! It was definitely my best trip ever.

My Proudest Moment
My proudest moment at Georgeham School was when we came second in a football tournament and got a medal. We had won all the matches except the last one, which ended with penalties.
I really enjoyed the tag rugby tournament when we came third. It was a really great day but we didn’t come home with a medal. It was still good though because we played well as a team.
Another exciting thing was when we went to Croyde to see Star lab. It was cool because we had to go in a great big blown up dome. You could only get in there by a tunnel. It was really great. Inside you could see the stars and the planets.

Embarrassing moment!
Bang! Embarrassing or what! I was 8 years old, singing at the Christmas show, standing on a table. Everyone saw. Someone at the end of the table had shuffled along a bit to make more room for someone else. I was standing on the side of a table. I shuffled along as well, forgetting I was standing on the edge. I fell off – sideways! Doodle laughed her head at me. I stood up feeling dizzy and
EMBARRASSED.
I’ll never forgive her, believe me. Briiiiiiing. The fire bell went off. Boy was I scared! A girl from another class told me the fire was real, not just a practice. I started crying. I was really scared. In my mind I would see the fire licking at my ankles – I was terrified. Then my friend came up to me and said it was only a practice. Phew!!!!
Tired but happy. Every year a sponsored run is held where you have to run from Putsborough to Woolacombe and back along the beach. Two years ago I got ‘first girl’. I was very proud!!!
I was very pleased when I managed to get a silver at the sports day because I thought I had a bronze. I was very happy!!!

We were all seated when the lights dimmed the excitement was mounting and all eyes were on the stage. The music started and the big red curtains began to be drawn back slowly. The amazing Lion King had started. The costumes were out of this world. They must have taken months of work before they were finally finished. As for the actors they must have had to practise loads to be as good as they were. The Lion King was by far the best thing we saw on our Year 6 trip to London.
We were off. The bus had just started, Lots of children were chatting and everyone was really excited. Some of Years 4,5 and 6 were off to Braunton comprehensive school to do five weeks of P.E in the huge blue sports hall with a shiny floor. Firstly we put our bags and jumpers to the side of the hall and then we started to do a warm up. After about an hour of doing lots of different activities it was time to return back to school. Ugh!
Improved Subject
I am really pleased with my self because I have improved hugely at Maths. I wasn’t very good at maths until I started having extra maths lessons with one of my teachers. I am very glad that my teacher offered to spend extra time with me and my friend trying to help us get better at maths. It has really worked because now we are a lot better at maths.
My best piece of work this term is probably my London special book about our Year 6 trip. I am really pleased with it because of the way it is set and because it is the most work I’ve put into a special in ages. I am also really pleased with my power point presentation on Horses.

I enjoyed our Year6 London trip immensely because of there being so much to do. The rush, the excitement, something was always happening. My favourite part of the trip was the Lion King performance at the theatre. I enjoyed everything about it. The costumes were bright, extravagant and colourful, but the music and the singing made it extra special. This theatre performance made sure I won’ t forget the trip in a hurry.
“Come on, you can do it, I know you can.” I was standing beside the penalty spot waiting for the whistle. My school football team was in the final of a football tournament. I was about to take the penalty which lost or won us the tournament. The whistle went. I ran up, kicked the ball. For a second everything was silent. Then suddenly cheers from the opposing team were heard everywhere. The goalie had save it. For missing that vital penalty I will not forget that tournament easily.
Proudest Moment
One of my proudest moments was when I got a certificate for achieving preparatory level of guitar playing. I worked hard to it and I am very pleased with myself. I plan to carry on when I go up to Braunton School.
Favourite Activity
My favourite activity is sports day. Last year I had great fun and did very well. I achieved a gold certificate, which I did not expect to get.

MY BEST SCHOOL TRIP.
My best school trip was to Wembworthy, when we went Orienteering because it was fairly difficult and we had to think hard and we had to keep looking at the map. In our group we had S, A, O and me. A and I were arguing over which way to go and I was sure we had to go right and he said left. Sure enough he was right like he always is! So we walked on through the overgrown paths and fortunately didn’t get lost either.
SPECIAL MOMENT.
I’ve always enjoyed the school fete because it has coconut shy, swings and most importantly a bouncy castle! I have thoroughly enjoyed doing the maypole and broom dance over the last three years especially the plait in the maypole dance. We had to learn the broom dance which took months! We had to go over it at least 1000 times! But I enjoyed it once we had got it right.
MOST EMBARRASSING MOMENT.
We were on the train back from London and me and Sophie were messing around. The ticket man came along he took my ticket, and I (thinking he was Sophie) grabbed the ticket from him and shouted that’s my ticket at the top of my voice. But it was then that I realized that it wasn’t Sophie, I was completely mortified and had to give the ticket back to him while Sophie laughed her head off at me.

My most amusing moment
I was in Year 5 and we were going on a bike ride to the Tarka Trail and back again as a treat because we had finished our cycling proficiency. Being a “slow-at-anything” I was at the back with two other Year 5s and Mrs Lifford. Suddenly we noticed a sinister plan was afoot. Mrs. Lifford was gone! We hurried on, two thoughts in our heads. Had Mrs Lifford been abducted by aliens? And if so, were we next? After a minute that seemed like an hour, Mrs Lifford appeared and saying ‘Don’t worry. My chain slipped and I stopped to fix it.’
This was my most amusing moment at Georgeham School, but I don’t think Mrs Lifford was quite the same afterwards!
My proudest moments
My first proudest moment was when I presented my PowerPoint presentation on Felines to the School Assembly. I was especially proud of my cheetah chase screen, when my cheetah zoomed on and off the screen when I said that the cheetah was super fast, and then came back the other way being chased by a giant elephant. That got a laugh out of everyone.
My other proudest moment was when I was given an award for my ‘Doggy Poo’ poster. I got to meet Nick Harvey, who is the MP for North Devon. I also got a tee shirt and jigsaw puzzle of my poster, and I was really chuffed when my picture appeared in the local newspaper.

My Best Memory
In Georgeham
I have only been here for a term but my favourite was in London on the yr 6 trip. I really enjoyed the Lion King. It was a great performance. There were so many different wonderful Costumes that looked as if they must’ve been really hard to make but it was well worth it. The monkey was a really good dancer and singer and so were all the other characters. I heard every single word and we were quite near the back. I would go on the trip again.

Sam

My best school trip was when we went to London and saw the lion king. Also at Wembworthy when we did the dens.

My proudest moment was when
we got into the finals at the Caen
football tournament but sadly we
lost in the final because of penalties.
My happiest moment was when I had finished my Tudor and my Uganda project.

For me the highlight of our year 6 London trip was Lion King! We went to see it at a theatre called Lyceum. It was brill! The costumes were amazing and there was lots of singing and dancing. It helps if you know the story of The Lion King. I would definitely go back and see Lion King again. The rest of our London trip was brill as well.
Wembworthy
The clock struck midnight and we set off for our midnight hike. “No torch’s on we are nearly in the forest.” The owls were hooting and we could hear rustling in the bushes. We were all abit wary. The moon was shining as we began to walk! Our midnight hike was brill. We also went orienteering in the forest, some of the groups got lost but my group won! I really enjoyed our year 5 and year 6 trip.
Best activity’s
Alice Little @ wonderland .com
Alice Little @ wonderland.com was our Christmas play. It was really fun practicing for the play. I was the Cheshire Cat and the Duck. We performed in a place called St. Georges House there was lots of people watching us. We had a big white sheet with big red lips and a grinning smile it was a brilliant smile for the Cheshire cat.
School fete
Every year in the summer we have a summer fate where we dance the Maypole and dance the broom dance. We also have lots of stalls and games. We have BBQ and raffle. The last couple of years we’ve had a gunge or Baked Bean stall where you either get gunged or covered in Baked Bean. Its great to watch!!

Sophie
The
lights went dim and the curtains opened to reveal the stage. There was suddenly
a noise and a pride of lions came out with an elephant and some giraffes and
lots of other animals. Then a big rock appeared and all the animals ran off the
stage. And two little lions came on the stage. All of the show was really good.
The costumes were brilliant and all in all I thought it was excellent. It was
definitely the highlight of my year 6 trip to London.

My most embarrassing moment was when I was in science and I had just finished my work and we were all told to put our name on the back of our work. I walked off to Mrs Sexon and handed in my work. I was just about to walk off but then she said “Sophie you haven’t put your name on your work” but I was sure that I did so I took my work and started to look for my name I couldn’t find it anywhere so I grabbed a pencil and then I quickly put my name on it. Then I realized that I had put my name on my guidelines I couldn’t stop laughing.
My most amusing moment was when I went on the year 6 trip to London and we were going on the underground train. We got our tickets and we had to go though this flap so we all went though. Then everybody stopped because Leah was stuck she couldn’t get though because her bag was open she was there for about 2minuites. She had to take her bag off to go though. I couldn’t stop laughing.
My most upsetting moment was when Nicola and I had an argument and we didn’t speak to each other for about a week. And I found school really boring but now we are best friends again and school is QUITE good.
