Here are some of our favourite, non-fiction, non-art related links. We make every effort to make sure that we keep these links up to date, but if your page is here, and you plan to change your address any time in the near future, we'd appreciate a tip-off so as not to disappoint anyone using this page as a jump-off point. As before, there is no criteria for inclusion on this page, other than the fact that one of us likes it and goes there on a regular, or semi-regular, basis. ARCHAEOLOGY TIME TEAM - http://www.channel4.com/history/microsites/T/timeteam/ Quite simply one of the best archaeological programmes on TV, with a cast of characters any fictional programme would give their eye teeth to have thought up! The page is more than just a quick summary of what's on. The song competition alone was worth checking in for!
KV5 PROJECT - http://www.thebanmappingproject.com/ If you have any interest in Egyptology, then this is one of the must-see sites. Hooks into the much bigger but just as interesting Theban Mapping Project.
ASTRONOMY ASTRONOMICAL PICTURE OF THE DAY - http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/lib/aptree.html One of Linda's favourite sites. Not only are there pictures here to make you want to cry, they're so beautiful, but the people who write the factual bits have a sense of humour which unexpectedly surfaces in some of the explanations. (One of the most evocative Stonehenge pictures I have ever seen is on this sight.) For a few examples see Mind's Eye. GARDENS GROUND FORCE - http://www.bbc.co.uk/gardening/tv_and_radio/gforce_index.shtml A programme which is much more than just a gardening makeover project, the cast of characters make it compulsive viewing. Maybe it's a Brit thing, but watching GF is sometimes as much fun as second-guessing who did the foul deed in a cop show! THE POSTCODE PLANTS DATABASE - http://www.nhm.ac.uk/science/projects/fff/ A fun page telling you what plants are native to your particular area.
SWORDS SPIRAL - http://www.spiral.org.uk/acatalog/ A shop in Rochester which also has a web presence. As well as swords, Spiral sells a wide range of jewellery, candles and other weapons (flintlock pistols, anyone?). Well worth a visit even if it's only to drool over the Lord of the Rings-inspired swords.
