It was a dark and stormy night, but everywhere was alive with shrieks of fear and laughter; pumpkin heads glowed eerily down from the tops of gateposts all over town.

“O’Neill your world is strange” Teal’c said peering out into the darkness from behind a curtain in Jack’s house.

“How’s that Teal’c” Jack O’Neill said double checking the large bowl of candy situated strategically just inside the front door.

“On Chulak children are to be treasured, not tormented in this fashion” the Jaffa said keeping watch for potential victims.

“It’s tradition” Jack groused, flipping his eye patch down into place before turning from the treats stockpiled on the table.

“We do not frighten our offspring for any trivial purpose” Teal’c spoke retreating back from the window and out of sight.

“Teal’c it’s only a bit of fun and it only happens once a year and yes most of the adults wear costumes too, that’s why it’s called ‘Trick or Treat” Jack said raising his one uncovered eye up to the ceiling and asking for strength.

“Now are you prepared to be besieged by the little monsters?” Jack said readjusting his sword.

“Indeed O’Neill” Teal’c said as he looked down and studied the large clawed appendages attached to his feet; then shrugging the rest of the dinosaur costume back into place wondered if Godzilla ever had problems just standing upright.
