Antony "Tony" Owers, Croydon Harriers Captain 1975-7, succeeds the late The Right Honourable Lord Weatherill PC as Croydon Harriers Patron. " Tony is Honorary British Consul in Curacao, Dutch West Indies, and was honoured by Queen Bearix of the Netherlands, with the "Lid in de Orde van Oranje-Nassau" in 2006. He is a family man, married to Sandra. They have a daughter Emilia and a son Sebastian. Tony is an Old Whitgiftian A versatile athlete, he ran 800m in 1:54.4 at Motspur Park in 1970, clocked 8:32.2 for 3000m at Tooting in 1976 and more receently ran a Half marathon in 1 hour 4 minutes. He is the only Croydon Harrier to have run in the Sao Paolo New Year midnight race. Tony, follows the club's interests keenly from afar but hopes to see the Team Compete in 2008 after being elected Patron in November 2007.
