founded by john stansfeld involving many key figures in the development of boys' club work, oxford and bermondsey was to have a profound impact.

the motto of the Oxford and Bermondsey Club in the early 1900s was fratres (fraternity).

fraternity was both a key aim of the work - and what young men and boys were expected to experience in the club

the club was to offer comradeship, a concern with body, mind and spirit, self-government.
