what is truth?
There are endless debates about the nature of truth. For
many, as for Aristotle and Plato truth is ‘correspondence’ with the facts;
it is agreement with reality. However, we are constrained by language,
limited knowledge and relationships of power.
Pessimist or optimist? Can come
to an understanding with others about whether something is true or false –
even where there are differences in power. Conversation?
Parker J. Palmer (1998: 104) describes truth as ‘an
eternal conversation about things that matter, conducted with passion and
discipline’.
