Wisdom is something that others associate with people
rather than something they can claim for themselves. It entails:
an appreciation of what living a good life might
involve;
being open to truth in its various guises and
allowing subjects to speak to us;
developing the capacity to reflect;
being knowledgeable especially about ourselves;
around ‘what makes people tick’; and the systems of which we are a part;
and
being discerning – able to evaluate and judge
situations. To do this we have to develop as connoisseurs and critics.
