As all artists in the early stages of their career, canvas felt the pressure to ‘get out there’, to be seen, send a message.  We were so focused on making and showing something, anything, yet we weren’t quite sure who we were and what we had to say.

Our experience of STTA enabled us to open up and look at the broader picture.  We became aware of who we are, what we do and where we fit in and no longer feel pressured to constantly make and present work.  Our creative process is now slower, but all the richer, we begin each exploration open minded about what might happen, where we could go and what we might learn in the process.  As a result of taking part in STTA, we have matured, our skills are more developed, we have direction and focus, and we are now able to give ourselves days off without feeling guilty.
