An exciting opportunity for emerging arts companies and practitioners to develop ideas.

IOU welcomes proposals from existing partnerships, companies or individuals coming together to develop ideas towards performance or installation works for theatres, galleries, indoor and outdoor spaces.  This professional development programme is designed for collaborative groups of 2 to 5 wishing to produce creative projects with the prospect of continuing their working partnerships into the future.  Groups should be at an early stage in their artistic careers.

bullet   A small budget (up to £300) for your group to use on specified items

Additional information:
IOU Studio is accessible for those who use wheelchairs.   The studio has a polished concrete floor 15m x 16m approximately.   Ceiling height is roughly 5m.  Successful groups will be offered their own area to work in and a shared rehearsal/experimentation space.   This is because two groups will be working at IOU Studio during the same period.   It should be noted that IOU Studio is also open to the public for visits by appointment.
IOU is particularly interested in cross art form practice and collaborations.   Your group may be made up of a variety of artists:   live art practitioners, visual artists, performers, engineers, musicians, installation artists, theatre practitioners, carnival artists, writers, dancers, film makers, poets, puppeteers, choreographers etc.   Your group can include any combination of skills.
The scheme is designed to support the development of your group as well as your creative idea.   Your idea may be to create a show, a dance piece, an animated installation.   The scheme aims to support intriguing, unusual or exciting ideas.
The scheme does not supply accommodation.   You should consider how your group will manage access to the facilities on offer during the period.   Halifax is well connected:   Leeds 16 miles;   Manchester 32 miles;   Liverpool 61 miles;  Sheffield 45 miles;   Huddersfield 8 miles;   Wakefield 17 miles;   M62 3 miles;   M1 16 miles.   There are bus and railway stations 0.5 miles from the IOU Studio.
