Jaycraft Newsletter Autumn 1997

Greetings to all our customers both old and new,
Often when talking to customers, especially those overseas., we are
asked where are we, so for a brief note on our little corner of England.
Bury St Edmunds is situated centrally in the south east of England,
close to both Cambridge and Newmarket, and surrounded by the great
wool churches of Long Melford and Lavenham, the village which gave
its name to spinning and wool cloth Worstead is a few miles away near
Norwich
Bury St Edmunds is an old market town that grew round the Benedictine
Abbey, dedicated to the shrine of Edmund, the  king of the East Angles, who
was murdered by invading Danes because he would not renounce his Christian
Faith..Much of the Abbey was destroyed in the dissolution by Henry
V111, but the grounds form a beautiful floral public park, which help
Bury continually to excell in the Britain in Bloom Competition
Its other claim to fame, is that  in 1125 the Barons of England assembled
to draw up the Magna Carta, which forced King John to give freedom
to his people, this document still reflects much of our modern society.
For those interested in Heraldry, our Coat of Arms bears the motto
" Shrine of the King-Cradle of The Law"
