...all the way to the Bianca

An article by Marianne MacDonald featured a piece actually written a year ago but obviously adapted for today's latest revelations about Patsy leaving EastEnders. Patsy was featured on the cover of this prestigious Sunday supplement with some of the best photographs taken of the actress. The article quotes Patsy about her action-packed past: the drugs, the eating disorder, the drinking and single motherhood with Charley. This article was a cocktail of dated news with current bits added for luck. It painted a picture that Patsy needed help, was still harbouring fears from long ago and implied that the family had problems too.

The article did however feature a paragraph on the transformation of her life by the Anna Scher Theatre. Patsy said she would have rather have been having a fag down the flats with her mates than go to classes, but her mother made her go.  At 16, she left school with 4 GCSE's and began working as an actress.  She was in Grange Hill for three years and did bit parts in Drop the Dead Donkey and The Bill before she hit the big time with Bianca.

All in all, this three page article was in my opinion far too gloomy and depressing, and ended referring to the word 'Extraordinary' and Patsy as an East Ender on casual terms with Gucci... a slightly condescending note I think.
