the virus?
Knock knock.

Who's there?

M.E.

Sometimes, (thankfully quite rarely), Glandular fever/(Mono), or perhaps another virus just decides not to go away. People are "never the same again". Bummer. It's like they have the same viral reaction every month, sometimes for years on end!

Some people are depressed. This can ruin their immune systems and they end up in exactly the same boat. It's probably up to the individual to work out whether they were depressed before or after they first fell ill.

Others still, have various mystery viruses from which they just never recover. These viruses often seem to go around in teams, attacking the body in turns, keeping the defenses low, and allowing all the viruses to survive, to start the attack cycle again... and again, and..

Some people have demanding work. Maybe they are under pressure in their job, or school, home life, whatever. These people get ill - with virus-like symptoms. Perhaps it starts out like flu. They make the mistake of not giving themselves enough time to get properly well. Many, never give themselves the time. Ever. Are you one of these? If you are, then maybe you need an old fashioned 'rest cure' of 6 months off work. This could be better than spending the next 20 years feeling awful and depressing us with even more CFS stories, and yes, they are depressing...

My own experiences follow. The site is quite grim in parts so please make sure you're up to it before you start. Remember that I am not qualified to give medical advice: you should take anything written here as nothing more than my own personal experience and opinions.

A couple of the wretched things!
