This is Zircon our family dog. Here he's seen in his natural habitat - reeds, mud and water! He was a great swimmer and loved to retrieve sticks, or failing this, any thing else he could find at the bottom of muddy ponds! I like the contrast in this one, dark yew trees and bright white snow. This one is the opposite - I've deliberately removed the contrast to bring snow and sky together. My dog Zircon swimming. I like the smooth water in the foreground and the turbulent waters behind. Oh, and I liked taking pictures of my dog! This shot is not perfect but I really like it. The telephoto lens and short depth of field really helps to isolate the subject from the (rather stately) background.
Heh. I like the fact that this object, against the forces of nature, is still valiantly trying to serve its original purpose. I think this has a nice feeling of motion. I tried so hard to find a clear view of the tower at Fotheringhay church then realised that the obfuscation would make the picture better. While the backdrop really contains little of interest it does provide a good static background to the subject which is very much in motion! If they were a band, this would be their album cover. You don't think that they got fed up with me for taking so many photos do you?
A shot from Coventry cathedral. The haunting window links the ruins of the old with the angular lines of the new. This shot was originally in colour but looks so much better in black and white.
