The Learning Tool: Laziness!

This morning all over Britain people are waking up and stumbling over to the kitchen to make themselves a nice hot cup of tea.

Now, the chances are that when you go to make a cup of tea you do it in *the* most efficient manner that it is possible to make a cup of tea in your kitchen!

How is this possible? Simple laziness.

Human error: the computers have always blamed us for our human error, (or we've imagined that they would). However it is our capacity to make mistakes that takes our learning process from the text book into the real world. It is what makes us not only flexible to when it comes to new tasks, but also what makes us able to perform older tasks incredibly efficiently. Human error is a deliberate process, it is the brain striving for the simplest, most efficient, most energy effective manner to satiate our desires. It is the human mind showing us, and leading by example that laziness is the greatest tool for learning the world has ever known!

Consider this. One man was so lazy in the morning that he had to go out and invent the kettle just so that he could shave 30 seconds off his time and energy in the morning. Everyone else goes, Ooooh *we* want that too! So power stations get built. He's lazy? Nah, he's just energeticly efficient!

One wonders just how many so called negative human traits will turn out to be in the mix for our own benefit...
