Robin Cook

Constituency Livingston
Party Labour
Position Foreign Secretary
Year of First Entry into Parliament 1974

It was all going so well for Robin Cook. In Opposition he was widely regarded as one of the most able members of the Labour Shadow Cabinet.

Then Labour got elected and it all went downhill. He committed a series of gaffes too numerous to mention, and became ineffectual in the Commons. Add to that his affair with his secretary, and a different picture emerges.

His disturbing similarity with chef Anthony Worrall Thompson cannot help either. Let's hope, as Britain goes to war with Nato against Serbia, that he can pull his socks up and show some of his Opposition sparkle.
