The Local Elections: Shorts
Interesting titbits of information I picked up.
- The turnout across the country was only 29%. In a world where the government set a target of 60% as a turnout likely to give credence to the results of the Scots and Welsh parliament elections, this doesn't sit too well.
- Wyre Forest council in the Midlands was lost by Labour to No Overall Control as the Keep Kidderminster Hospital campaign group won seven seats. Another example of the caring government.
- In something I have never seen before, the result of one ward in Colchester was decided by the luck of the draw after the Conservative and Liberal Democrat candidates both polled 356 votes. The sitting LibDem won.
Enough of this! Maybe more to come later....
