After school
coaching centres are designed to provide introductory coaching to girls of
primary school age. Girls of all abilities and aged between 7 and 12 are
welcome to attend. Coaches will follow a pre-defined programme to ensure that
the girls are introduced to all the techniques required to play football. The
emphasis will be placed upon providing a fun and safe as well as challenging
environment.
The fun started at Middlecroft in February 2000, and is moving on to Newbold in
March 2000. All sessions will last for an hour and a half and cost £1.50
per week, or £5 per month if paid in advance.
18 girls now attend for the Staveley Centre on a weekly basis, many of whom are
new to football. The programme is lead by Centre of Excellence coach, Rachel
Booker, under the supervision of Jane Ebbage, and she also has the assistance
of Amanda Reeve and Claire Hopkinson who are both members of Chesterfield
Ladies Under 16 squad.
