Lydia Ellis was typical of the
sports mad teenagers who came to play for Chesterfield Ladies FC.
In the Summer of 1996 at the age of 16 she had everything to live for, she was
an all rounder with a bright academic future in front of her. Then meningitis
struck, and we never saw her again.
She was cremated in her favourite Number 10 shirt.
Now, as I write this, 4 years later, the memories of Lydia come flooding back.
She should have achieved so much but she never got the chance.
Rest in peace Lydia
